Phichit is quiet - and surely very Thai country life - if that's what you are looking for, it should be fine... I lived many years in a similar environment and liked it very much. I learned language and culture.

Phichit is some of the worst Thailand has to offer. Pointless flat terrain in the central plains. Literally no reason to go there unless you've been everywhere else multiple times.

Still not a valid reason. But a good place for Susan (BigNok) Harris from Uttradit.

It's even worse than I thought then. I will no go to Phichit. I'll go to anywhere else 10x before I go there.

The residence of Phichit gave a palpable sigh of relief, 😉😉

Not if you hop off and stroll around every Muang city.  Have a great munch, overnight and then hit the next on the train line.

Bangkok

Ayutthaya

Lopburi

Nakhon Sawan

Phichit

Phitsanulok

Uttaradit

Nakhon Lampang

Lamphun

Chiang Mai

I have done that in the 70's and enjoyed everyone of those towns.  I did it to practice Thai language.

It can't be that bad. They have coffee and Thai food.
