Apologies about the multiple topics but I am now bored to tears at this wedding reception..

I recently went to Cambodia for 2 weeks and found the people there to be incredibly friendly and welcoming, but also in a natural sense, not a transactional one..

Why do you think this is?

I made the same experience there. Certainly more friendly than Thais, Burmese, and, probably, Vietnamese and Laotians as well...

They couldn't do enough for me.

It's because they're poorer. The poorer people are, the friendlier they are.

That's good to hear and mirrors my own experience in Cambodia. The one exception was the immigration guy at Siem Reap airport whose surly rudeness and indifference was at a comically high level.

I even bought a tuk tuk driver a pack of fags, which cost me an astounding 30 pence. He was so grateful that he almost got on his knees to begin prostrating..

I told him no need and I would buy him another pack tomorrow. He said he would take me anywhere I wanted, day or night, just give him a call..

Lovely, genuine people.

Jeez......

Since when did Cambodia deal in pence?  I thought their currency was the riel.

USD mostly

I agree but read the post I was commenting on where he describes "30pence" as USD!

I accept that 30 cents is normal in Cambodia but NOT 30 pence.

Someone needs to reply to you and let you know what an idiot you make of yourself with all your self delusional fabricated tales and posts.

I would hate you to think, as you seem to, that you are giving anything positive to AN.
