Still packing some extra pounds.

Who knows if I have fatty liver / have pre-diabetes? I never check for anything.

But I have decided to give up the sugary fruit. No more watermelon, bananas, mangoes, pineapples. I wasn't eating grapes anyway, but grapes are a no-no.

So which fruits are best?

Here is an interesting video I just watched.

he doesn't mention olives, but olives are a fruit. obviously low sugar.

avocadoes - high in potassium, so bananas not needed for potassium. avocados way more expensive than bananas though. but minus all the fructose.

pomegranates and grapefruits seem to have some special properties for insulin resistance and fat-burning

05:05 How pomegranate helps increase the size of the beta cells in the pancreas (important for diabetics

09:03 Grapefruit has a special antioxidant called naringenin which has been proven to improve insulin sensitivity and helps the liver burn fat instead of storing it (important for diabetics)

no other fruit besides berries?

Avos are good but expensive. I think almonds are better for energy and bring more filling. Rice and eggs too. Anything with sugar in it isnt much good.

ANYTHING (everything) we eat 'helps' burn fat. In fact, just typing this sentence helps burn fat! That's what your body does even while sleeping. It burns fat.
Hell, even eating a piece of cardboard will cause the body to burn fat. Just not at a rate that will do anything for weightloss.
But certainly, cutting down on sugary fruits will do a better job.  I limit myself to raspberries and blueberries,  and in limited daily amounts. A half cup of raspberries, a shot of sugar-free Strawberry syrup, all mixed into some Greek yogurt for a snack or dessert, and I'm a happy camper!
But there is no fruit 'better' for burning fat. Just as there is no exercise that 'targets' belly fat or targets cellulite thighs, etc. Just marketing hype.

No real surprises here ...

Being a LPOS myself, I simply cut way back on my starchy carb & sugar intake.  Glucose dropped from 6.3 to 5.3 👍

Not sure my walks, morning at the park after breakie, and shorter walk after dinner count as exercise.  Morning maybe, but only about 1 kms.  Guess something is better than nothing.

Really should do some resistance exercise, as lost a bit of muscle mass with weight loss over the years.   Had plenty to spare, but the muscle atrophy is very noticeable.

I started using a treadmill.

Then, I watched a few videos and 10,000 steps a day seems to be the gold standard.

on the treadmil, I go 5.5 km/h

So I asked AI to crunch the numbers. That's almost 90 minutes and a total of 8 km.

Very few people are doing that. But again, that's the gold standard. Especially when you're working. 90 minutes plus 1 hour travel time to and from the gym. No one has that kind of free time.

I really should take a morning stroll surfside, since we have about 6 kms or walkway.  My feet start to hurt after 3+kms, thinking I might have Trumpitus  :cheesy:

Was never a problem before.  I could split that, half morning, half early evening.  I'm  not hitting 10k steps back & forth, bedroom - kitchen 🙄

My hip isn't cooperating for riding my bike, past year or so.  Though can't say I road that daily, more weekly, but 10-20 kms when I did.

Rowing and skierg machine does the wonder and work out almost all of your body.

Just got my skierg machine, and I love it.

Do 3 min rowing

1 min rest

1 min skierg

1 min rest

Total 50 min

Also started to work on my big bag again, and even 10 x 2minutes is hard now after long time not boxing

4-5 days lifting a week

And if no diabetis which you should check out, you can eat anything just stay 500 calories below what you need.

Average man needs 2000 calories a day +- depending on your activity. If you are overweight, you put in your desired weight in an calorie calculator and take away 300 calorier. You will lose weight if you are diciplined.

You need fat, proteins and carbs

45% carbs 20/25%  fat 30/35% protein

that sounds like it's getting close to over-training

I have good routines and my weight training program is a spit program where every muscle group gets enough rest. And since I’m not aiming for getting bigger or stronger, it is more maintenance than anything else.

used to lift 6 days a week every muscle group twice a week

Bodybuilders who are massive ... you need a truck load of food to maintain that muscle mass. I wouldn't want to get that big.

Trust me you want get big just using your muscles 4-5 times a week. You will be a bit more firm and toned, and hopefully lose a few kg.

Maybe I'm too old to build a lot of muscle mass.

You need to start doing it when you're young and continue.

But just being toned is good enough for me.

One guy in the gym seemed to be doing steroids in the bathroom.

Maybe one out of 20 guys in there is really ripped ... but mostly young guys and maybe some/most are doing steroids.

Steroids make your balls shrink?
