A police and local administration operation has resulted in the arrest of 64 young men and women caught red-handed at a drug-fuelled party in a well-known resort in Sungai Kolok district, Narathiwat.

Acting on directives from Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, who has declared the fight against drug abuse a national emergency, local authorities, led by Mr Supiyan Daemaoling, District Chief of Sungai Kolok, carried out the coordinated raid with assistance from special operations volunteers, local administrative officers, and police from Sungai Kolok Police Station.

The operation targeted four resort villas in Tambon Sungai Kolok. Authorities were tipped off about large gatherings involving illegal drug use and loud music. Upon arrival, they discovered groups of young people partying in an intoxicated state with loud music blaring from inside the premises.

During the search, officers found 31.3 grams of ketamine and a number of electronic cigarettes. All 64 individuals were taken into custody and transported to Sungai Kolok Police Station for drug testing and further legal proceedings.

The crackdown underscores the government’s intensified campaign to tackle both small- and large-scale drug trafficking networks. Provincial authorities have been instructed to prioritise such operations as part of an urgent national policy initiative.

Further investigations are underway to trace the source of the drugs and determine whether any of the individuals are connected to wider distribution networks.
