DTV border bounce - need 20k cash and return flight ticket just in case?

When doing a DTV border bounce either via air (BKK) or land border crossing, do you need to have 20k cash and return flight ticket just in case they ask you? Do people get rejected entry if they don't have this on them?

Problem with an air-bounce is the airline will want to see an onward ticket when you check in for the return.  A land bounce is best done as a trip organised by an agency or you'll likely need to spend a day or two in Laos/Cambodia and cannot be sure what you'll be asked for on return.  As for the 20k, just take it, probably not needed but why not.

You should not be asked for either for entering via air

You have a multi entry Visa.

An onward flight should not be required by airline nor funds by immigration.

As for border bounce .,.it's hard to predict these days.

Best to do the run with agent minivan.

Obviously have your e-Visa print out and check stamp in is for 180 days.

On my last DTV entry, which was by air, I was not asked for proof of funds or an onward ticket. I would have been very surprised if I had been. By chance, I actually had both.

I was, however, asked for the address I would be residing at. This seemed to be noted somewhere in the computer by the IO. It was simply a question. No proof of booking was required.

On the money, it's a good idea to have it, for the just-in-case scenario. The cash doesn't have to be in baht, it can be an equivalent amount in a foreign currency. If you've got them, seven $100 bills beats twenty 1000 baht notes for ease of carry.

it was an entry for another 180 days? I mean, it was an extension? If so, didn't they want you to show financial requirements on your bank account and more documents, like immigration office use to do?

Do not understand your post.

Entry to Thailand with a DTV has  nothing to do with extensions.

It's a multi entry visa and each entry will be stamped in for 180 days.

An onward flight etc would not be required by airline or immigration

I mean, he came back to thailand to extend 180 days of DTV?

I'm not being pedantic.

Think of a Non O-A. It's a multi entry visa..

Each entry while visa is valid is stamped in for one year.

It's not an extension.

A DTV in also multi entry. Each time you enter Thailand you will be stamped in for 180 days.

It's  not an extension.

You get a new stamp upon entry for the term of the visa, which is 180 days in this case. In theory you can do this infinite times until the visa is expired, which is 5 years for DTV.

To the OP I would be weary of this visa because it's so new. For people with businesses, retired and married people you need a retry permit to keep your extension alive but DTV can do this for free and not even do 90 days reports (I think). By far the most generous visa Thailand ever had so I wonder how the IOs will react over enough time.

It was not a border bounce by air. I spent 4 weeks in Europe. I have added this to point out, unnecessarily, that the point of the flight in was not just to get another 180 days but I had things to do overseas.

Understood. However, I was thinking that when you are nearly to finish your 180 days and you need to leave the country and come back to get a new stamp of 180 days, maybe immigration officer at the airport or even at the border could ask you to show financial requirements, as immigration office use to do for marriage or retirement extension for example. Maybe requirements are asked only if someone wants to extend the DTV inside the country to the immigration office, without having to exit the country

I carried 20K Baht in Travelers Checks (from Bangkok Bank) until I stopped using Non-O-ME (marriage) Visas.

I also carried proof of the reason for my visa (in my case, marriage-cert copies - KR2 and KR3, but DTV folks would use related-docs for their visa-type), and a copy of my condo-contract to show I had accommodation.

I was never asked for any of this upon-entry, but i only ever used known-friendly land-borders, and it's RANDOM when IOs mess with people, so why take chances?
