Man Shoots Pregnant Partner Dead in Domestic Dispute While Cleaning Gun

A 35-year-old pregnant woman was shot and killed by her partner during a heated argument in their home in the Thung Khru district of Bangkok. The incident occurred shortly after midday on 12 April.

 

Police were called to the scene, where officers from Thung Khru Police Station, forensic investigators, and a medical examiner from Siriraj Hospital responded swiftly to the reported shooting. The home, a three-storey detached house, is located less than 100 metres from the police station, allowing officers to arrive within two minutes.

 

Upon arrival, police found the victim, identified only as Ms A, lying deceased on her back in a second-floor bedroom with a single gunshot wound to the right temple. A .38 calibre revolver was discovered near her body and collected as evidence.

 

The alleged shooter, her 35-year-old partner known as “Kai”, was apprehended outside the home as he was attempting to flee in a vehicle. He was taken into custody without resistance.

 

During questioning, Mr Kai told investigators that he had previously worked as a goldsmith before leaving the trade to open an ice cream stall at Krung Klang market, close to Thung Khru Police Station. He said he met the victim in mid-2024 at a Japanese bar in Bangkok’s Thaniya Road, Silom area, and they soon began living together.

 

According to Mr Kai, the victim had recently informed him that she was pregnant, and he was reportedly overjoyed, taking her to register for antenatal care a few months ago. However, tensions reportedly developed in the relationship, particularly after the victim left home for a week without contact and later returned, a situation that led Mr Kai to suspect she might be returning to her previous line of work in the entertainment business.

 

On the day of the incident, Kai said he was cleaning his firearm when a message from another woman arrived on his Line application. The victim allegedly saw the message, which triggered a heated argument. In a fit of rage, he admitted to fatally shooting her in the temple.

 

He expressed remorse, telling officers he regretted acting in the heat of the moment, which resulted in the loss of both his partner and unborn child.

 

Police have charged Mr Kai with murder and illegal possession of a firearm. He is currently in custody at Thung Khru Police Station pending further legal proceedings.

"Entertainment business."  Pretty big red flag to begin with.  🤦‍♂️

I fondly remember the Barbican Bar/Restaurant on Soi Thaniya. It was great. A refuge from all the Japanese-only bars on the Soi. I guess the vicitm worked as a hostess in one of thos places. Dunno if they went out with the clients on Soi Thaniya, or were just Japanese-style hostess bars (pay for many drinks and talk to pretty girls at your table). The Thai guy wouldn't have been a client. Maybe a street vender.

sorry, it was just a stupid flippant joke.

i don't even think it's a good idea to keep a gun in the house.

As the article stated, he was a goldsmith and met her at the bar.

Outside probably. They (hostesses) usually stand outside waving at the Jap guys as they walk past, and shout a few words in Japanese.

Clearly his recent visit to Pai with his wife caused the problems. They need to shut that place down before this happens again.
