Came back from visiting family in the UK for a couple of weeks & after arriving back to my condo (Wongamat) I noticed my water smells “Weird” (sort of a metallic smell).

At 1st I put it down to it not being used for 2 weeks but after 3 days of running it, the water seems to go ok for a while & then smells weird (metallic) again.

Anybody had any similar experiences and/or know of anywhere I can go to get the water tested (we only use bottled water for cooking / cleaning teeth but I’d rather not be showering in it if it’s not clean).

My Mrs was complaining our bottled water smelled a bit only last night... we get those 18 liter ones. Heaven knows what shortcuts are taken at the treatment plant. The City water often has a bit of an off smell to it fairly randomly. Perhaps all the recent unseasonal rains do that. In your case the water has been standing a long time and may need time to flush through, all the way from the meter, and a large tank full likely takes more than a few days.

I stopped buying them. Many times there was a strong chlorine taste, maybe not flushing out after cleaning, and then several times picked a bottle up, and it was leaking around the cap. In my mind if water can get out, germs can get in. Fitted a filter system instead, maybe a little more expensive, but what price peace of mind. As for JB300 situation, it may be worth taking a look at the storage tanks on the roof of the condo, and talk with maintenance on their routines, if any?

Have you asked your neighbours if they have a similar problem? If so, then it would mean it's a condo-level problem that the management needs to fix. If not, then it's most likely to be something specific to your place, possibly corrosion somewhere. As it's a condo, you should have on-site maintenance people who can try fixing it for you, though you might have to pay them.

The town I grew up in had very hard water that we all just got used to.  When we moved away and came back to visit, the water tasted awful.

I don't know about Wongomat, but my water in Bangkok differed depending on tides and salinity and what they did to treat it.  If you're only bathing in it, I wouldn't worry.

(Poor taste trigger alert)  If it's a metallic taste, you may want to check to see if the Burmese guy who drowned in the rooftop water tank was wearing fake gold.

We also had a smell problem with the big water bottles from the delivery man off his pickup truck, the water smelt of petrol, this went on for several weeks so eventually we stopped buying off him.

I suspect the bottles were not being not washed properly for re use.

We now only buy the Aro water from Makro, good water sweet taste and no smell ever, they deliver as well.
