Crime Violent Loan Shark Gang Arrested in Lampang with Weapons in Hand

Authorities in Lampang have arrested three members of a violent loan shark gang accused of terrorising local residents with weapons, including knives and baseball bats, in a crackdown on illegal debt collection activities.

 

The arrest was carried out at around 17:30 on April 21 following complaints from residents of Bo Haeo Subdistrict in Mueang Lampang District, who reported being harassed and threatened over debts with illegally high interest rates. Some villagers were reportedly so frightened they fled their homes to avoid confrontation.

 

Acting on orders from Mr. Thanarat Saithaep, District Chief of Mueang Lampang, Deputy District Chief Mr. Pasut Na Lampang led a joint operation involving local administrative officers, the Special Operations Unit of the Provincial Administrative Office, and police from Mueang Lampang Police Station.

 

The team successfully apprehended three suspects and seized a cache of evidence, including bladed weapons, baseball bats, mobile phones, and printed flyers related to their illegal lending operation.

 

The suspects were charged with the following offences:

 

1. Engaging in unauthorised personal loan business operations

2. Lending money with interest rates exceeding legal limits

 

The arrested individuals have been handed over to Mueang Lampang Police Station for further legal proceedings.

 

Authorities have vowed to continue cracking down on illegal loan operations, which have caused fear and unrest in communities across the province.

Some people only understand violence. 

 

Otherwise, they'd never pay back the money.

 

There has to be consequences for people with no moral compass. 

 

That said, the loans sharks are vermin.
