What is up with tattoos and tourists / expats here?

Why is that that most tourists and expats, men and women. Farangs, asians or else do have tattoos?

And not a small one but clearly visible and obnoxious ones.

In the West for instance, you almost never see those. But here young and old people are full of it.

I would say it’s almost 1 on 2 who are covered with tatts.

Why does Thailand attracts primarly those people? Knowing that in their culture is not perceived as good. Huge paradox…

Also tattoos people have a high tendency to be degenerate. And most are sadly. Not the cream of the crop…

So why is like this? Any theory or explanation? On why they’re attracts here.

My theory is you're living in an area that's built around an industry of alcohol and prostitution.

Up in Chiang Mai the local population and tourists don't seem to have any.

Nobody in my Thai gated village (250 homes), or my Thai family have tattoos.

Walking around the town, shops and University at MaeJo, no staff, no students, no passers by with visible tattoos.

You've either not been to a western country for a long time or you visited with your eyes shut.

Degenerate? I know a lot of people that would like to have a word with you about that.

I suggest you continue to hide behind your keyboard.

"Degenerate? I know a lot of people that would like to have a word with you about that."

What does this mean?

That you know a lot of people that would like to engage in a spirited debate about whether people with tattoos are degenerates?

Or something else?

Something like that.

Visable or not would depend on how the people are dresses. If, as you commented, the OP is living in a certain area, the dress code would be different to that of a gated community.

Were the residents of your gated community, or members of your Thai family, to go to the beach and dress with less clothing and revealing more of their body, it may well turn out they do have tattoos.
