Polish Couple Fined for Public Nudity on Koh Phangan
A Polish couple were fined and detained after being caught naked and embracing on a road in Koh Phangan. The woman received a 5,000 baht fine, while the man was sent for psychiatric assessment. Authorities are intensifying efforts to curb public nudity on the island, particularly at known hotspots like Zen and Secret Beach, urging tourists to respect Thai cultural norms.

Shouldn't it be the other way around?

The guy was just doing what guys do.  He's fine.

That seems a little unfair!

Indeed... the disparity of penalty between the male and the female seems strange - They both committed the same offence.

Why is the male considered (potential) mentally unstable and the female not ?

Would a Thai receive a 5000 baht fine ??

Did any of the following receive a fine or sent for psychiatric assessment ?? - it would be interesting to see the comparison...

Maybe a land whale, and they're questioning his choice, rather than his actions!

Then I'd put it down to beer goggles.  Still no cause for alarm.

It's well known with men, the little head frequently overrules the big head. Probably 95% of men.

OTOH, hypersexuality in women runs at only 3-6%, according to studies.

This was nothing to do with either - it was just a couple of idiots lying naked on the beach.

Stupid and ignorant... yes...      Dangerous and criminal - nope...   Just something stupid.

One guy recently reported at 6000 baht fine for Drink Driving...

If drink Driving get a 6000 Baht fine - and this gets a 5000 Baht fine, the legal priorities are completely distorted.

Not too long ago, all rural Thai women were walking bare chested. That was considered normal. Of course, everything changed with the arrival of the prude Chinese to control the country....

When you make sense of the Thai legal system, please let me know.

Perhaps the TAT should start advertising to tourists the existence of short-time hotels, plentiful in just about every Thai city.
