Trump Hails 'Full and Comprehensive' Trade Deal with UK Amid Modest Economic Expectations

Likewise we’ll never hear anything negative from Trump’s supporters, both foreign and domestic, no matter what he does.

The Canada thing is ridiculous and I don't know where he's coming from on this one and saying he'll end the Ukraine war in 24 hrs was also ridiculous. As for some other things, banning biological men from women's sports. I see no negatives in this. Closing down the borders. Is this a negative or positive? I have to say it's a positive. Deporting illegal immigrants mainly criminals or associated with criminal gangs again I can't find a negative in this. Tariffs? Well the market although initially reacted negatively to this has stabaslised so it would seem not a negative at least in the eyes of the stock market. Getting rid of paper straws. No one in their right mind could call this a negative. Houthis have capitulated. Must be a positive. More hostages in Gaza released under Trump. Surely a positive. Getting rid of DEI. The woke left will call this a negative but most with an ounce of common sense will see it as a positive. As for the Ukraine/Russia war at least he's trying. Biden did nothing to try and end it. Trying to end a war can only be a positive. Etc., etc.

So, the narrative that "no good can come from Trumps tariffs which are a total disaster for Americans" was complete BS? Quelle surprise🤣 Im sure apologies from fake news consumers for pushing disinfor

It’s a PR Trade Deal, the very fact that it’s so limited in scope is an indication of how weak Trump’s position is.   He needs this very limited deal in order to claim some victory.

The first trade deal of this administration. He talked about 100 in a month or so. Ha! The joke is on Don. Even the British PM admitted it was a modest outline of a deal. Hard for Trump to strike a deal. He is not very good at it, despite his desperate attempts to convince us otherwise. We have been privy to all of his failures.

bitcoin at 100k again, how's that stock market?

Guess any gains go totally unreported..... Because Trump

It's only the first steps into the deal. No PR about it. You simply have to go anti-Trump with every breath. Cutting tariffs on UK steel and aluminium from 25% to 10% and cars from 27% to 10% for the 1st 100,000 imports and 0% tariffs on RR engines for jets isn't a PR stunt.

First, you rob someone on the street and then give them $5 back so they can catch a bus home.

Thank you, Sir Keith, you're the best ❤️

Hows the stock market doing? Want me to go dig up your lies about that?

You tell us. But I know you don't take notice daily, because you are that rich guy, living in a third world country paying advisers to do your stock trades, but trying to save a few dollars with a 7 hour stopover on a flight to the US.

Exactly, like Sam Walton driving a pickup truck.

Glad to see my life interests you so much. Perhaps you should evaluate your own as to what you are doing wrong.

During Britain’s membership of the EU the U.S. tariff on U.K. manufactured cars was 2.5%.

Under this limited Trade Deal, that tariff is now 10%.

I guess you take what you can get, or at least the crumbs you are offered.

Long time ago. Now the U.S. tariff on EU cars is 25%.

Get it right and stop mixing up the fruit.

Rolls-Royce got a special tariff break to 10% from 25% because it's a special car said Trump  I am sure lots of normal people will be happy with this news :passifier: . This one for the rich guys and nothing to reduce the economic hardship for the people.

What an amazing deal ! Wow Trump really is the best deal maker. People say he is the best in the world. But then those people also believe earth is flat.

I have no idea.

I’ll check when a U.S. / EU trade deal is the topic of discussion.

That'll be some time away given the sloth like movement of the corrupt EU.😆

So allow me to help you. It's 25%. Far worse than the deal that the UK was able to strike so quickly.

That's one of many benefits of Brexit. Free of such a slow moving self serving protectionist racket like the EU we could move fast. See the India trade deal for other examples.

Brexit winning for the UK once again.

You're welcome. So is RayC.

Yes it's a real shame the EU cannot do a trade deal to allow itself to sell it's products competitively in the US.

Maybe in a few years. No rush...

In the meantime, they can buy UK produced cars cheaply.

Anyone who understands anything about what is happening, would have understood that U.K. would be the first to be announced. Vassal State.

Nah, we haven't been a Vassal state since Feb 1 2020.

Now show these over 5 years.

Here’s a thing.

Only a couple of weeks back Trump announced he had downgraded the U.K. to ‘Second-Order Priority’ for a trade deal with his focus on a deal with S. Korea.

So what happened to the S. Korea deal?

It seems to have been another of Trump’s mirages.

What we are left with is yet more evidence of the desperation of Trump to get any kind of a deal to put before his supporters, both foreign and domestic.

Well done PM Starmer for playing Trump’s desperation to the benefit of the UK.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2025/apr/29/trump-makes-trade-deal-with-uk-second-order-priority-in-blow-to-ministers

Excerpt:

Navarro later told reporters outside the White House that British consumers would like chicken and beef imported from the US despite the use of chlorine and hormones.

He called sanitary standards a “phoney tool used to suppress what is very fine American agricultural product” and said the market should decide, adding: “We don’t believe that once [British people] taste American beef and chicken that they would prefer not to have it.”

Tom Bradshaw, president of the National Farmers’ Union, said he welcomed reciprocal access to the US beef market, but was concerned imported American beef would be produced to a lower standard.

More steaming BS from the U.S team.

Well this one isn't. And the India one isn't.

So what are the other 198 that are, to make up this mythical 99% you speak of?

Well, this one is not a trade deal.

As to the deal with India, the EU will also sign a deal  this year. Do you think the UK deal will be more advantageous than the EU deal?

So before you change the subject, where are the other 198 that are indentical to the EU? Or were you talking out of your arris?

That's before we consider the Australia deal signed November 2021.

I don't think the EU deal will even happen.
