so - is the ETA going to be introduced this June? The authorities seem to be keeping very quiet about this.

The ETA project has been abandoned and the DTAC has bee introduced instead.

Can't see any reference to the ETA there - can you quote the bit where it says it's been abandoned?

Thinking best to wait for any announcements when things actually happy .

Bit like the 300b entry tax.

Thought I might post as I just returned to Thailand after a two night stay in Vientiane, Laos. Let me state that everything was in order  … Marriage Extension good until next year, Re-Entry Permit purchased at Chiang Mai Immigration (with a reminder that my 90 Report would be from the date of re-entry.

OK. Ready to re-enter Thailand … not so fast. Your have to register via the app. Thankfully my Thai Wife was present. Back outside, a Thai Immigration Assistant opened the app, entered the info … Passport #, name, citizen of, traveling from where reason for visiting Thailand (Yo! I am a resident for 14 years as reflected in my Passport … right, jai yen, yen … city of birth, Passport issued where, expiration date, etc. OK, back to the Immigration Officer, digital  finger print and stamped in. Still a bit of a challenge to me … all information is already on file with Royal Thai Immigration … right, sabai, sabai!!!

And you were not aware of the TDAC commened on May 1.

You require a wife to fill in simple form (online)

BTW: you are not a permanent resident.

Rather on annual extensions and you have a temporary permission of stay that you renew annually.

In any event not what the OP is asking about.

I was aware based on past experience that the Arrival Cards had been done away with, I was not aware that re-entering Thailand on a Re-Entry Permit by land crossing would require filing the same information Royal Thai Immigration has on me via my Extension of stay based on Marriage to a Thai National, my current 90 Day Report, and the Re-Entry Permit. I thought with the previous cited records, confirming my Digital Fingerprints (again, already in file) would have cleared the entry. Live and learn TIT. As to being a permanent resident, Jack, not in the official Thai designation … nonetheless, Thailand remains my only global residence since 2011 making me a permanent resident until/unless taking up residency elsewhere. “You require  wife …”, no but certainly an added advantage as my Thai is very limited. Have I offended, Jack? Sounds a bit on the sharp edge to me. I posted to share a related experience which might help someone … no need for your reaction.

They were no longer required at airports. Still required at some land border crossings.

No. Nor would reentry permit, TM30, TM47 etc.

Here is link for next time.

https://tdac.immigration.go.th/arrival-card/#/home

Can be done up to 3 days prior to entry.

Regardless you do not have permanent resident status in Thailand. You have a temporary permission of stay.
