Not only are the constant trucks driving around for weeks with loud speakers annoying, they're cringe and embarrassing. If I yell at you loud enough will you vote for me? I still know nothing about you except you're willing to hire a truck to bother me. Where is the sense in this?

Reminds me of this scene but instead of great depression era southern USA it's happening in real life 2025 and even more moronic using less advanced technology.

This is worse. Driving around shouting numbers at random people sitting at home is next level. Total retard tier.

Based on the context of it being in Thailand, where substance is not really a thing and only appearances matter, presumably the candidates who can afford to hire people to drive round in trucks playing loud audio for them appear to be have more money or respect, so are therefore a better candidate.

Could also be UK where there are individuals who vote for Farage.

It’s propaganda as anywhere else in the world, just a different method. The West has come a long way to effect and implement it, just have a look at the political forums here…the indoctrination is quite astounding.

It's just an easy way to inform people who the candidates are, as local elections aren't advertised any other ways. Many people are just farmers who's only local news is by word of mouth. I'm sure you've seen the funerals and weddings where music is blasted non stop throughout the days and sometimes into early mornings, with no regard for others sleep.

It's only for the week. Here we've got convoys, with a front truck playing music followed by another with the candidate standing in the tray shouting his slogans (they're all men) followed in turn by another full of supporters and hangers on giving out leaflets.

I just saw a sign today that said "Resist vote buying" which does actually go on here.

Yeah I see that too and least there's a leaflet which some information on it. The rest are just literally shouting numbers out with no context.

It’s been quite in our little neighborhood, not a peep. You’re lucky, they have music for you.

I'm in Mae Jo this weekend and I just went out and was blocked on a small concrete road by a horde of people in red hats and a truck blasting the intercom. I had to turn around and go the other way instead of pushing past them. I'm guessing this is the same crew given the red hats.

Around my way  they have the loud trucks  but also a lot of the candidates actually walk around with a large group of "followers"  handing out manifesto sheets and cards with candidates names and number...  they will stop and have a chat if you're interested.

I also get annoyed by these trucks with loudspeakers. It's the shamelessness to think they're so important they can drive around bothering everyone with their bs. I actually thought of confronting one of the drivers, but thought the better of it since I don't want my visa cancelled and the guy is just a tool anyway.

In 2019 I: had the misfortune to rent a dream house located in San Sai, there were loudspeakers down the road. Every morning this infernal monastery would blast some monk telling you some useless crap.

I feel blessed to be in the Mooban I'm in where the only problem is a grandma speaking at the top of her lungs every morning.

Walking around and talking to people is laudable.

I got ran out of a house which I really liked near the Mae Sa waterfall in Mae Rim because the temple would announce donation amounts as early as 5:30am (xxx donated xxx baht, repeated over and over again) and the village intercom would often go off in the 6am range proceeded by 10 minutes of crap distorted music.

This behavior is malicious, he knew he had to get it out early before people left for work so listening to him was mandatory.

I'm hyper paranoid after that. Before considering anywhere to live the intercom situation is the first thing I need to figure out.

A couple of times this voting round they have approached me,  most quickly realise I'm not Thai  but still give the wais and they are good humoured when I say  I'm just a foreigner with no (voice) vote.

Today, my massage lady was juggling phone bids from two candidates. 300 and 400 baht. She was telling the guy offering 300 baht if he wanted her vote, he would have to go to 400.

Charles Durning was great in this movie, he was so funny. Shortly after the move "Tootsie" came out, I was seated in a restaurant in Portland Oregon when Charles Durning walked in and sat in the next booth. Apprehensive at first, I got up the nerve to address him and discuss his role in Tootsie. He was a very likable guy and a great actor.

You are coming the raw prawn if you don't think the US Republicans are doing their best to disenfranchise minority groups.

Well I got you beat on that one..I once rented a place in Pattaya that was really very nice and quiet during the day  but every night without fail at about 3 AM  a 6 wheel truck would turn up and deliver huge blocks of ice to a shop right opposite..sliding the blocks down a ramp into the shop with a loud bang  after unloading  they would then make an infernal racket for the next  couple of hours  crushing the ice in machines open to the street  just across the road..it was awful.

But too late I had already paid and started moving my small business !!!

You really do have to do some intensive detective work  to avoid these situations  but  its very difficult if you don't have much time  or the place is too far away.
