Crime Schoolboy Fatally Stabbed in Canteen After Grudge Dating Back to Primary School

A 12-year-old schoolboy has died after being stabbed multiple times by a classmate during a lunchtime altercation at a secondary school in Phibun Mangsahan district, Ubon Ratchathani. The shocking incident took place on 22 May and is believed to have stemmed from a long-standing grudge dating back to the boys’ primary school days.

 

Police from Phibun Mangsahan Police Station were alerted at 12:40, to a violent altercation at the school’s canteen in Ang Sila subdistrict. Emergency services rushed to the scene, where they found a Mathayom pupil critically injured after being stabbed with a knife by a fellow Mathayom student. The victim was quickly transported to hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly afterwards.

 

The suspect was taken into custody at the scene along with the 10-inch blade used in the attack. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation and officials from multiple agencies, including juvenile justice professionals, have been called in to assist with legal proceedings.

 

According to relatives of the deceased, the attack was the culmination of an unresolved conflict between the two students, dating back to when they were in primary school. The two had allegedly exchanged insults in the past, but there had been no physical altercations until now.

 

Since the beginning of the school term, the accused was reportedly seen staring down the victim and making threatening gestures. Despite this, the victim, described as well-mannered and not prone to conflict, ignored the provocations.

 

Witnesses said that during the school lunch break, while the victim was speaking with friends in the canteen, the suspect pulled the knife from under his shirt and stabbed the boy 5–6 times in the torso, arms and neck. Local vendors intervened and tried to perform CPR before emergency responders arrived.

 

The boy was declared dead at Sappasitthiprasong Hospital. His family, grieving at the mortuary, has called for legal reform, urging stricter penalties for serious crimes committed by juveniles.

 

“If the law remains lenient, children who kill will grow up thinking they can do as they please. It becomes a habit,” said the boy’s aunt, Ms Malai. “Young offenders who commit such crimes should face jail just like adults.”

 

His body has been taken to his home village in Don Na Yia, Ban Khaem subdistrict, where funeral rites will be held after the arrival of his father, who is returning from Taiwan.

 

In response to the incident, education officials have pledged to strengthen school safety measures and provide psychological support to affected students and families. The accused has been remanded to the Juvenile Observation and Protection Centre in Ubon Ratchathani while investigations continue.

I hope the authorities look very carefully at this child's home background. To commit such heinous violence at the age of 12 is almost unheard of. I feel it is extremely likely appalling things are going on at the family home.

 

This child needs to be removed from both society and whatever is happening at home until such time he is no longer a danger to others.

How can you blame puberty? 

This happened as a direct result from the values and morality he has been taught by the schools and his family or lack thereof. Nothing to do with puberty.

They can make up as many fancy names and initials for this lad's condition, but in my book, any 12 year old who stabs another to death is just bad. All I wanted to do at 12 was to play football.

Because during puberty hormones are raging, especially testosterone. Aggression can be a common side effect of too much testosterone. In the bodybuikding world its known as roid  rage. Obviously there's more to it than just that because a kid at that age normally doesn't resort to stabbing someone with a 10 inch blade.

No prior violence and then years later a violent murder?  The kid is probably insane and certainly not thinking about any consequences.  I doubt anything could have put him off.

I'm not sure about morality, but certainly not puberty.  The kid has to be mentally ill.

We do not have the true and full history. If the  accused was being bullied and harassed over time, it is understandable why he might  suddenly explode one day. Or, this may have been a sudden outburst. Kids of that age do not fully understand the concept of deadly consequences and many do not have a developed form of self control.

And some kids who are being bullied and/or taxed are backed into a corner. It is much like a prison. If one does not fight back, one gets exploited forever.

Yes, it looks abnormal. However, without knowing the history, we do not know if the victim had a role in the  mental illness.

The claims that the child was carrying over a feud may be an adult's  biased  view. Some kids do not get along with each other, but almost always, those feuds are forgotten over time.

   Seems like the accused was the confrontational bullying one .

He was staring at the deceased and making threatening gestures and the deceased didn't respond to the taunts

Raging hormones does not mean rage... It also does not mean he loses any value on life. Something in his life taught him to act out in this way without any concern what it does to another person or their families lives.

I'm not disputing that, but going through puberty could definitely have made t worse.

I'm always looking at the mental health or other reasons but sometimes it's as simple as following your peers. How many fights here end up in a stabbing or shooting? Kids here see the elders smashing and bashing at the slightest things then others join in stamping on people on the floor....they learn from what they're used to witnessing.

 

Thais don't think of the consequences of their actions. Blame comes first, then excuses but rarely responsibility so kids swallow this attitude.

   Everyone goes through puberty , it doesn't usually cause the person to kill others
