A well-known rubber plantation owner lost his life in a single-vehicle accident in Phatthalung province on the evening of 1 June.

At approximately 21:45, Pol. Lt. Winich Phakdeewanit, deputy investigation officer at Bang Kaeo Police Station, received a report of a fatal road crash involving a pickup truck that had veered off the road and overturned into a roadside ditch in Moo 7, Khok Sak sub-district, Bang Kaeo district.

Police and rescue workers rushed to the scene, where they discovered an overturned Isuzu D-Max pickup truck, registered in Bangkok, lying on its side in a water-filled ditch.

The driver, identified as 45-year-old Mr. Apiweer Benjakul, was found crushed beneath the vehicle and submerged in the water. Mr. Apiweer was a prominent figure in the region, known for being one of the largest rubber plantation owners in the area.

Emergency crews used a crane to lift the vehicle and recover the body. Preliminary investigations suggest that Mr. Apiweer lost control of the vehicle while navigating a bend in the road, causing it to skid off the road for more than 20 metres before overturning.

According to family members, Mr. Apiweer had just left home for a personal errand and had been in contact with his wife shortly before the crash occurred. Police staed a full investigation is underway to determine the exact cause.

The body has been sent to Bang Kaeo Hospital for further examination.
