If Our Greta wanted to make a real difference and sacrifice, she would volunteer to take the place of one of the remaining live hostages in Gaza. THAT would be impressive.

Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard has criticized Greta Thunberg for her social media plea for her friends and supporters to put pressure on the Swedish government to win her release from Israeli custody.  According to the Foreign Minister, the  video plea resulted in hundreds of people calling the hotline number the Foreign Ministry uses for Swedes in distress while abroad.

"This means that there is currently, as a result of this campaign, a very long waiting time that seriously risks affecting Swedes all over the world who need immediate consular assistance, says Malmer Stenergard to journalists."

The Foreign Minister describes the action as irresponsible and "very, very serious."

"It is obvious that people have been encouraged to contact the Foreign Ministry in a way that risks affecting other Swedish citizens who are actually in distress. Then I think people should think about what responsibility they themselves have in that."

When speaking before the Swedish Parliament, Malmer Stenergard said the Foreign Ministry and Swedish embassy in Tel Aviv are monitoring the situation.

"Our assessment at present is that no one on board is in danger and that they therefore do not have any need for consular assistance at present."

The Foreign Ministry said separately that should Thunberg request consular aid, she would be given it like any other Swedish citizen.

Malmer Stenergard emphasized Thunberg and the other activists have  a "clear personal responsibility."

"The crew and passengers on Madleen are aware of the risks of this campaign, the Foreign Ministry has advised against traveling to Gaza for ten years and they have a clear personal responsibility if they disregard an advisory, which I have also been very clear about in many different contexts, she says in the parliamentary chamber."

Guess what? I don't want to watch those videos either. I am sure 95% of people don't want to. So is everyone a Hamas loving anti-semite? Or perhaps I just don't want to see such horrendous things happening to humans.

I also don't want to watch videos of people being bombed in Gaza either. Does that make me an pro-IDF anti Palestinian? No, I just don't want to see people getting blown up.

You are honestly ridiculous.

nobody is suggesting you should watch those videos, but some people need a reality check think of it as akin to showing persistent drunk drivers pictures of the victims of such behaviour.

Just shows the mentality of those kids and their delusions of self grandeur and they aren't as important as they think that they are .

Also the absolute stupidity of her  thinking that lots of people all phoning the Swedish Embassy would make any difference at all .

Greta illegally crosses a war zone and then wants the public to force her Government to bail her out .

She's just an immature little girl full of self importance

It's called using their platform to gain maximum publicity. Not a difficult concept to get your head around for most people.

Not self publicity, publicity for what is happening. I know you old geezers get very triggered by this young woman and it is hilarious to see, but no-one can doubt she is very principled, has strong moral beliefs, and is doing what she believes in whether you agree with her position or not.

Good for her.

Did you see the boat? And with about 20 crew?

They could not have had much more than a pickup load.

She does have a kind mouth...

Reminds me of when politicians fly into war zones, disrupting the landing of planes full of peace-keeping troops and humaritarian aid; all for their own personal glorification.

I have every reason in the world to doubt Greta Thunberg is "very principled" or "has strong moral beliefs,"  but I'm not going to elaborate because that would provoke argumentative responses and would certainly veer off topic.  I will say I don't find the strength of anyone's beliefs helps prove the validity of those beliefs.  It's what those beliefs involve that's crucial, not how intensely they are held.

I'm sure Hitler, Hamas and Greta all strongly believed in what they did or do, but that doesn't make their hatred of Jews any more acceptable.

And on a lighter note ...

It seems the Israeli government does have a sense of humor.  When they deported Greta, they put her in the worst seat (non-reclinable last row aisle seat next to the toilet) on an El-Al flight to Stockholm via Paris.  For a "flight shamer" like Greta, that must have been punishment in more ways than one.

Greta Thunberg displayed more confidence than world leaders and "silently mocked her critics," a body language expert says.

The climate campaigner yesterday described a "quite chaotic and uncertain" situation during her detention, following the capture of the Gaza-bound ship she was on.

She spoke to reporters in Paris en route to her home country of Sweden and, during the address, the 22-year-old activist maintained composure and conviction, it is said.

Greta Thunberg projects the 'image of a heroine' and proudly 'mocks her critics'

Really....lol

Why would anyone think she lacks confidence?

She has never actually done anything, and the left has been worshipping her for years.

Never done anything??? Did you spark a movement of millions of students as a 15-year old? Have you spoken at a UN conference as a child? Have you addressed DAVOS? Spoken at COP? How many Nobel Prizes have you been nominated for exactly? Have you ever been Time Person of the Year? Have you had several books published? Have you raised millions of dollars and given it away? All by the time you were 22?

I'm guessing you classify me as "left". I actually find her quite irritating and a little naive. However I admire that she follows her convictions and is genuinely sacrificing to try to affect change no matter how futile it may be. A principled young lady doing what she believes in.

The fact that she triggers all the bitter old right wing men is hilarious - that's what I admire most about her. And all you guys criticise her disabilities, her looks, feel so threatened by her. It's quite pathetic.

"What has she ever done". Jeez. What you you ever done except sit behind your keyboard and slam a 22 year old girl?

Sorry, I should have said that she has never accomplished anything, and that the left has been fawning over her for years. The environmental movement of millions of students has been going strong since I was a student, certainly long before Greta came along. Still more CO2 going into the atmosphere each year.

I do not think I have ever criticized her looks, in fact, I think I said she had a kind mouth, so you are just lying when you say that, but you will not apologize, you lie all the time.

I am sorry you are so threatened by me; I'll try to act more like a punk if it makes you more comfortable.

Oh dear. I said "all you guys" meaning the right, I see so many posts of people mocking her looks, her hair, her disabilities - there is one just above calling her a "retard" for heavens sake.

If you personally have never done so then I apologise for including you in the "you guys". But unquestionably the right do pick on those things, this forum is full of examples.

I don't lie, I just say things you disagree with. And if and when I am wrong I apologise. That's what bigger people do.

You did not apologize. You did what little men do, which is to say "if you ------, then I apologize.

In any event, please tell me what Greta has accomplished.

Greta's popularity poll is not looking very healthy. All those from the right?
