Did they actually confirm you will get the current 2025/26 rate and not the rate effective when you became eligible?  I have read previously that waiting was of no benefit if you are already out of the country when eligible.

No they didn't. Just that I would get the increase from delaying payout last year. Although my birthday has just past, and I haven't yet heard from them regarding buying years, I don't expect  the pension payout to start for a month or two due to admin and how busy they must be.

Would be nice to get it though.

I thought the average life expentancy in the UK was now around 83. So presumably people survive for 17 years on their State Pension. At 72 i have already claimed mine for 7 years. The loss was not that great when inflation was low in the first 5 years, @ £1000, but greater now inflation has risen.

Most of my pals (and my parents) died between age 50 and age 70.

If average life expectancy was really 83 (half died before, and half died after), where are all the half over 83 living?

Cos I sure as poop ain't seeing them ............

And if you take into consideration all the people that died age 50, there should be just as many at age 116 (or maybe 3x more living to 95).

What they're saying is 83, but what I'm seeing is more like 67!

DWP will not contact you, nor will they initiate your pension. You have to claim it, as Charlie said above.

That is not correct! From the very same website that you referred to:

'If you’re applying online, you’ll also need the invitation code from the letter about getting your State Pension.

If you have not received an invitation letter but you are within 3 months of reaching your State Pension age, you can request an invitation code'.

Wow, a UK address is definitely desirable!

It looks like I'm not going to get a pension that isn't frozen otherwise!

I suppose I could register my tax affairs to a UK address but maintain the submission to HMRC as non-resident on the SA109 Residence and remittance basis if DWP check HMRC addresses but not contents of HMRC tax return submissions. Is that likely to work?

I was forced to register my address here in Thailand on the UK electoral register this year to pass the ID checks for a private pension that ran an electronic check.

Does anyone know whether a name on the electoral registry overseas could cause a failure on an ID check for opening for example a new savings account? I have the same UK address with Tescos to apply from, want to apply for their next annual saver account but this year have the electoral register abroad (where I wasn't registered last year) for example.

My SP starts in a few years so the electoral register will expire by then and I can get a plan underway for the SP.

Its all wrong for payment to be obfuscated when there was no obfuscation in paying NIC each month for years.

Look forward to views! Many thanks all.
