An unexpected visit from a group of snakes alarmed a family in Prachin Buri on the evening of 4th June, leading to an urgent call to local rescue and police services. The incident unfolded at a two-storey wooden house in the Lat Takian subdistrict of Kabin Buri district, where the Sajja Phuttham Dharma Foundation rescue unit and Sra Bua Police Station responded swiftly to the distress call.

Upon their arrival at house number 242, Moo 1, responders discovered a cluster of five green snakes coiled together in the rafters on the home's lower floor. The snakes had nestled into metal grooves attached to the wooden walls, presenting a challenge for the rescue workers and police attempting to extract them.

Efforts to capture the snakes revealed a mix of sizes, ranging from small to finger-sized, intertwined within a crevice. Despite shining lights and implementing strategic maneuvers to capture them, the snakes proved elusive, slipping onto the floor and evading capture. However, the team successfully managed to apprehend one larger snake, finger-thick, before utilizing insect repellent to coax another from the crevice—though this one also managed to evade capture.

The sight of the slithering intruders was particularly frightening for Krityanee, the 61-year-old homeowner, who was startled upon discovering the snakes near the second-floor seam of her house. Her immediate concern for safety prompted the call for police and rescue services.

Pengseab Seng, a dedicated volunteer with the Sajja Phuttham Dharma Foundation, recounted that upon their arrival, five green pit vipers were spotted. Only one was successfully captured while the others, being smaller in size, managed to slip away. The captured snake is planned to be carefully released back into the wild, well away from populated areas to ensure community safety.

This incident underscores the challenges of wildlife encounters in residential areas and highlights the importance of prompt, effective response measures. Rescue teams remain vigilant and prepared to respond to such unexpected visitations, ensuring both the safety of residents and the respectful handling of wildlife.
