Record of entry and exit Thai citizen

My wife ( Thai)  and I are retuning to live full time in August after living abroad for many years. To import our personal effects duty free the clearing agent has advised that it is best done in my wife’s name. We have traveled back to Thailand regularly but never stay for more than a few weeks.

 

Since the introduction of the face recognition e-gate my wife has not had any stamps in her passport and the clearing agent has said we need to get a record of entry and exit from immigration to prove to customs that she has been outside the Kingdom.Has anyone any experience of this and can give some advice on the process.

Not done it personally but here's a post showing the application form for travel record saying it can be requested at your local immigration office.

A friend of mine did it a few years back and I believe the concession on import duty for returning Thais is subject to having lived outside the country for a certain period of time. Can't remember the time, could  be a year.

Just going in and out may not be enough, what you may need is proof of residence somewhere else.

What are you bringing in, maybe start afresh in Thailand, just saying

As long as you bring the household items in within 3 months of your arrival there is no duty to pay. Easier to do it in your name as long as you are coming in on a long term visa, eg O retirement or OA retirement.

Thanks for the replies. The clearing agent seemed a bit dubious about the Non O year extension and kept insisting that I provide a work permit which obviously I won’t have as I am aiming for a retirement extension.

You are right in a way. We have two properties in Thailand that pretty much have everything we need. I have been a expat most of my working life and part of my repatriation package is a 20’ shipping container so we are using that.

Just one person's opinion. Bring your tooth brush and that's about it. 

If you have some real personal stuff such as photos etc then bring as excess baggage on your flight.
