Cambodia Threatens Action Amid Rising Tensions with Thailand

Political theatre on both sides.

The issue is to get the playwrights together to finalise the script before opening night. Otherwise the action on stage will be a mess.

Never mind, that great genius Thaksin senior will soon be rushing to the rescue with a brotherly call on his opposite number. Then all will be well.

Yeah.... this Op shows the leader is all lip service. Nothing has changed except forbidding Thaksin to leave the country. Since he is supposed to represent Thailand there.

This may in fact be their way of showing Thaksin is needed to resolve this. However, Thaksins puppet could do it on her own if she tried. Which seems also not to be happening.

Another point would be that everyone seems to be escalating even small instances into something bigger... The world is fed up with the way things are going. WW3 may be just around the corner.

Sorry sir, Thailand has the cards.

I totally disagree. Thai businesses will suffer with the loss of millions (if not billions) of baht in lost revenue in exports to Cambodia and beyond!

For reference today:- (IMO Thailand  - the LOSER!)

Thailand transports hundreds of trucks of [produce] a day to Vietnam, but today there is congestion at the border after Cambodia closed it.

........first, stop [using Thai] internet, second, stop showing Thai movies in Cambodia (this also includes Thai TV channels including the dreaded soaps), and third, close the gate, which directly affects (Thai) farmers.

There is now an active social media campaign (on Facebook in my case) by the Cambodian Government to support Khmer farmers when buying fresh food. I do wherever I can. I already avoid many Thai non-perishable items due to the very high sugar content making them disgustingly sweet to eat. I am a diabetic.

If Cambodia could feed itself it wouldn't need the food imports.

I really have no idea what's going on with this conflict, but I do know that Hun Sen is in no position to lecture Thailand

He is a serial killer, he is a thief who has stolen huge amounts of land from his people, he is a thieving multi-billionaire, and the man has erased any semblance of a democracy from his nation for decades. They regularly kill political opponents and his family is continuing the tradition. He and his corrupt family are a pox on Cambodia.

Absolutely correct, just another military controlled SE asian nation so the elite can rape & pillage their society at will. The same principles as the Burmese Military in Myanmar, just without the armed conflict. If the Cambodian people had their way they too would rise up and remove this scumbag family!

That is why there is a social media campaign to support Khmer farmers and boycott food from Thai farmers. No problems. Cambodia can purchase food from Vietnam. Many of the International food products are imported through Vietnam because of Thailand's hideous protectionism rules and regulations. A vast range of food products from the UK, USA, EU, Australia and New Zealand can be purchased in supermarkets here in Siem Reap, well known products you will never see on Thai shelves!

For reference:- Google

Cambodia imports food from Vietnam. Specifically, vegetable, fruit, and nut food preparations are among the items Cambodia imports from Vietnam. Other food products like animal feed, spices, and some fresh produce are also imported.

Thailand get stuffed!

Dude the importation of goods. They dont produce anything here except food and clothing and Vietnam cant fullfill all the goods needed here. You know that, dont let your distaste for Thailand influence the fact that Cambodia needs them more than they need Cambodia. Its a lose lose for both sides in any event.

BTW you know the bakery down by the river on the road that runs past the Burger King?  About 75 meters from the bridge? They sell very nice and totally tasty Happy Brownies there for $1.50....
