Today, routine check up. Also had to give urin sample. Drank 1 liter of water 1 hour before. But still could produce only very little urin.

Upon returning home, suffering an attack of watery diarreah. Is it possible that excess water can be discharged by way of colon instead of by way of bladder? I had similar experiances before.

Most likely, you need to drink more electrolytes, check your prostate, and the urin test, is supposed to be morning urin before eat and drink right after waking up, or during early morning if you need to go before you get up. Put in freedge or on ice before go to clinic/hospital

Can't remember what the limit for water intake that the body can handle is.

It's either around 1 liter per hour or maybe even a little less ie 0.8 liters/hour

Probably best to drink throughout the day rather than large amounts at once.

Every hour you are awake in hot climate 500 - 800ml pr hour depending on activity. During exercise in aircome room I drink up to 2L clean water and 0.5L electrolytes or coconut water.

Remember there is water in food to, and after 6-7  in the night I really do not drink very much, and not very much clean water before after my two cups of coffe in morning.

Roughly 5l clean water during the day is enough for most.

800 ml per hour every single hour? how many liters is that per day? can you do the math for me? i'm too lazy.

i think the most recent amount I came across based on latest science is roughly 3 liters per day. and yes, if you're sweating all day, it may be more. but are you outside all day in the blistering heat sweating? you're not inside in AC most of the day?

there's such a thing as too little water and too much. 0.8 liters per hour sounds like too much to me.

One doctor I came across said about 3 liters per day.

5 may be too much, but anyway I ain't gonna pull out the science.

5 is definitely too much for me. I have never felt the need to drink that much water in one day. I probably couldn't if I tried.

I fullfilled all those criteria. Early morning, not eating for 8 hours. No sex for the last 77 years. I would like to revert to my original question. BTW I have a prostate history.

3L is average for regulated temperatures, and 5L is for tropical countries. Kidney problems for western expats is real

Chronic kidney disease progresses faster in patients living in hot countries

5 April 2024

Chronic kidney disease patients living in the hottest countries experienced an additional 8% drop in kidney function each year compared to those living in temperate climates, finds a new study from researchers at UCL and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM

Lifestyle is also a factor as well disposals for kidney problems. A good indicator is the color on your urin and smell.

Ok, thanks.

I'll take a look at the link.

But I don't think most people are outside in the blistering heat all day.

I think most people are in their AC when it's really hot.

But I'll consider it.

Thanks all. But the question remains: In case of "sluggish " kidneys, can excessive water be disposed of by alternative "bodily openings" ; rectal openings for example. Judging by my last experiance, I suspect that my kidneys are "underperforming".

Well, drinking water is not enough, you need a diet with electrolytes

Electrolytes are essential for various bodily functions. These minerals, like sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium, help regulate fluid balance, nerve and muscle function, and maintain proper hydration.

If you drink alot of cold water in short time, especially in hot climates you can experience an reaction you described.

Drinking too much water can cause loose bowel movements. If your kidneys aren't functioning well, excess fluid can't be removed as it should.

I drink many waters.  If'n I weigh myself before and after a session working half a day in the yard, difference can be up to 3kg.  Usually lose 1.5-2kg for half a day taking occasional water breaks.

Potato chips count as electrolytes, right?

Coconut water and meat is good for you, a banana, any tropical fruit, and even a getorader is better than chips as substitute

Would be nice if you stop stealing the thread ! The man ask about bowel movement after drinking water, not interested in your electrolytes.

BTW to the OP: Drinking water in the morning is a well known bowel starter.

Not with a healthy colon.

But if you were developing diarrhea anyway,  yes
