I don't know how anybody parts with cash, without doing a significant amount of research on the company or the individual who's offering them a great deal. There is so much information out there that there's really no reason to ever fall for a scam like this, unless you're just being reckless with your money.

Greed and stupidity in the main SM007.

Loads of Aussies, hoards of Chinese and a South Korean guy with a gun arrested. No mention of Brits. Remember this next time a one gets plastered and has a punch up.

This world is chock full of vampires who just simply want to suck the blood of society, and take other people's money and will do absolutely everything in their power to avoid real and honest work.

I guess many Australian suckers are from the baby booma era and many are not even aware of how to use a computer let alone a mobile. They were the days when we trusted people. Now that the world and scum nations can contact you they still believe we are all honest humans. Sadly in reality now that is not the case.

Hang on, all of us are not that stupid, actually I did not know any of us were that stupid (do not mention the Thai ladies' charms). Any way the AFP are on the job and caught these that have been operating for 2 decades according to the report.

Would be nice to know how the scam worked so everyone could avoid it.

Re read the story. You definitely missed that part. But there are easy ways to avoid these scams. NEVER, but NEVER hand your money over to any individual, or "brokerage" whose reputation you can't check on, or respond to unknown phone numbers or websites. Also, there's a wealth of info online about hoe to avoid scams, as well as some pretty funny youtube channels of scammers being baited and exposed and even arrested due to the work of hackers who hack into scammer computers and reverse the connection.

posing as legitimate financial firms and cold-calling Australian residents, coaxing them into investing in non-existent bonds with promises of high returns.

Never take too good to be true story serious.

Often warned in banks' security awareness booklets.

Do these scumbags go to Thai jail?

Or they are likely to be deported after Thai police's investigation?

Hope they suffer in the hellish prison here, instead of the lukewarm institutions back home.

Crooks deserve real punishment.

Cold-calling Australians with offers of non-existent bonds. It's in the OP, if you look.

Not hard to avoid, just hang up.

Promising unreal returns if you invest now.

I got calls everyday in NZ from scammers, you tell them they are low life's and hang up then they ring back again I just use to say go and scam your mother and hang up

You have an option to block certain callers on your phone.
