-- Inside the Situation Room, where Trump and his national security team are weighing next steps on Iran

Top national security officials, including Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, are among officials who have joined Trump in the meetings as the administration weighs the spiraling conflict.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt held a press conference on Thursday — the first since Israel launched preemptive strikes on Iran June 12 — and said the next two weeks will be a critical time period as U.S. officials map out next steps.

"I have a message directly from the president, and I quote: 'Based on the fact that there's a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take place with Iran in the near future. I will make my decision whether or not to go within the next two weeks.' That's a quote directly from the president," she said Thursday.

And yet:

It is reliably reported Trump is ignoring US Director of Intelligence and Defense Secretary Hegseth.

The dishonest media is intentionally taking my testimony out of context and spreading fake news as a way to manufacture division. America has intelligence that Iran is at the point that it can produce a nuclear weapon within weeks to months, if they decide to finalize the assembly. President Trump has been clear that can’t happen, and I agree.

My full testimony below:

Hegseth tells Senate panel he's giving Trump "options" amid intensifying Iran-Israel conflict

"President Trump's word means something," Hegseth said. "The world understands that. And at the Defense Department, our job is to stand ready and prepared with options. And that's precisely what we're doing."

On 10 June 2025, during the negotiations between the U.S. and Iran on its nuclear program, Kurilla said at a congressional hearing that he prepared a "wide range" of military options for President Donald Trump if negotiations fail.

Well let's see looks like some folks want President Trump to 'hurry up' and make his mind up on a decision that could have global effects, to say nothing of WW3.

Surely waiting to see if this can be worked out 'peacefully' would be more prudent?

Nothing of the sort has been said.

Two weeks gives Trump more time to campaign for the Nobel Peace Prize he wants to attach to his CV. I just saw the Pakistan government nominated him for it. That paves the way for all sorts of pro-Iran manipulation. And Trump will fall for it like a cat chasing a ball of yarn. American foreign policy essentially being made so Trump can win a prize.

Again the same old snipping of the whole statement she made. Just like she stated.

She clearly stated 3 months ago that Iran wasn't building a nuke. The "taken out of context" line is just desperation, Start packing, Tulsi.

You are doing exactly what she warned about.

An additional post over a month old article on Hegseth has been removed.

Hegseth and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine testified Wednesday before the Senate Armed Services Committee, as the president mulls joining Israel's offensive against Iran.

"My job, our job, Chairman and I, at all times is to make sure we, the president, has options and is informed of what those options might be and what the ramifications of what those options might be," Hegseth said.

Democratic Sen. Jack Reed, the ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, criticized Hegseth and told him that while he's been at the helm,

the Pentagon has been "paralyzed by infighting and stripped of expert staff at a time when we need stability and professionalism."

Hegseth responded with a statement that the Defense Department is "executing a common-sense agenda to achieve peace through strength."

As expected. Lets see if more can be done in this period?

Europe-Iran talks yield little in Geneva at 'perilous' moment

GENEVA here were few signs of progress after European foreign ministers met their Iranian counterpart on Friday in a bid to prevent conflict in the Middle East from escalating, although all signaled readiness to keep talking, despite major sticking points.

The foreign ministers of Germany, Britain, France, known as the E3, plus the EU, urged Iran to engage with the United States over its contentious nuclear program even as Tehran has repeatedly insisted it will not open discussions with the Trump administration until Israeli strikes on Iran end.

The talks aimed to test Tehran's willingness to negotiate a new nuclear deal despite there being no obvious prospect of Israel ceasing its attacks soon, diplomats said.

Many of the comments are saying Trump has changed his mind, what do you suppose they mean? Changed his mind over what exactly?

You might want to ask those who you say are claiming Trump has changed his mind.

Hate him or love him, but I’d rather see him take a week or two to make a conscious, well-thought-out decision than act impulsively and drag the U.S. into this war.

This situation has the potential to lay the groundwork for a World War III scenario.
