Woman held for allegedly swindling an Australian businessman

A 50-year-old Thai woman was arrested yesterday in Chon Buri's Sattahip district for allegedly swindling an Australian businessman out of more than 10 million baht.

Malina No-in, 50, who runs an English language institute in Pattaya, was arrested at a Leucha car repair shop in tambon Na Jomtien of Chon Buri's Sattahip district yesterday.

Robert Gordon Grey, 70, an Australian national, had filed a complaint against Mrs Malina, stating that she had persuaded him to jointly invest in a computer business.

Mr Grey, the owner of Bay Watch restaurant in Pattaya, had paid more than 10 million baht to the woman. The payments were made between mid-last year to last December.

However, according to the complaint, no computers were bought and Mrs Malina dropped out of sight. Mrs Malina denied the swindling charges.

(you could get a few computers with 10 million baht :o )
