After legalisation in June 2022 loads of people gave growing at home ago, but since then most seemed to have stopped because a. it is actually quite hard here if you are not used to growing in high heat & humidty, and b. the price of flower is currently that cheap there is no point.

However, the price of flower is about to go North as the low grade growers stop producing low grade weed that nobody wants, the new GACP requirement will knock most of them out of production.

So lets say the price went back to 150-250 Baht per gram for even the mid-range, avergage flower (which is very possible) would you consider growing your own at home?

It costs about 25-35 Baht per gram to do so, for reference.

Cheers.

The GACP requirement will be about as comforting and reassuring as all the ISO 9001 quality assurance signs one sees out side construction sites ( like that tower that collapsed) and factories.  These things are meaningless in places like Thailand where everything has its price.

Personally I have bought a few  deals of alleged GACP weed, can't comment on the level of toxins and heavy metals, but it was nothing special and it made me cough something rotten

I don't think the GACP cert has any bearing on strength either.  I will definitely be growing again

I grew for a few years during and early post-COVID.

The biggest issue is controlling the heat that reduces potency.  Unless you are growing on a large enough scale to justify running AC 24/7, it's a losing game.

The problem you haven't encountered, 2nd or 3rd crop will be inundated with pests, unless you use fairly serious pesticides.

We do not use any chemicals in our garden,so far pests have not been a problem.

what type do you grow? I have grown several crops of indigenous type weed from seeds salvaged from some brick weed  with no problems, I think some of the none native exotic strains may be less resilient to pests and mould etc Although I've yet to try, as I can't bring myself to pay 100's of baht for a  seed   Does anywhere sell cuttings? I'd  be more willing to pay for that

I've got no dog in the fight on either side.  But I'm curious whether "grow your own" has ever come back to bite any foreigners that cheezed off their neighbors?  Has anyone ever been ratted out and deported for it?

I was just thinking the same, if you were going to do it you would not have to tell a soul,

I presume it seasonal.just like other herbaceous plant which this year is February to July but last year was different.  Growing outside is weather dependent which is changeable. Some of the best I ever had was the leaves that got left  behind in the bottom of a  box. I sold it as Tijuana Gold in London.

Theoretically the leaves have zero THC but this batch certainly did. Growing outside in an English climate was my main source of income for five years.

I was growing my own indoors in a tent, about 10bht/g Inc electric for the LEDs.

But at 2-5bht from the online stores, not worth growing my own.

If it's over 20bht/g I'll start growing my own again.

Outdoors (Oct - Jan), too many problems, too hot, too bright, too wet, too much wind, too many bugs. The outside product just wasn't worth doing.

BMT I agree with you.I had a similar tent set up in an unused bathroom shower. The 1000 watt LED light produced way too much heat even with with plenty of fans.I had to resort to ac to stop the plants from burning.(autoflowers) I did get get some decent results but even at 200b / gram it's better for me to just buy it these days.As you say outside growing was hopeless.

Why is this? I'm on my second year of growing in our yard, just a few plants, and they are now teetering on the edge of dying because of spider mites.

It's completely legal now, and still will be under the suggested new laws.

Only for yourself though, you can't sell it.

It's a whopping great hole in the new law - you do now need to register on the Plook Ganja app but any Thai can do it and there are no inspections or similar.

Then you can grow however much you want pretty much, it's not possible for anybody to check if you sell it or not.

So you now have commercial farms having to get some serious paperwork together for their commercial licenses, but everybody else growing unlimited amounts without any restrictions and in reality able to sell it without any problems.

What could possibly go wrong?
