All the president wants to do is balance trade. It's funny how many don't understand this nor simple economics.

Any American that is not in favor of balanced trade - especially given chronic trade and budget deficits are just stupid. It's really that simple. What's worse, the biggest moaners are the brokies on this forum and absolutely clueless where their pension benefits and Medicare is going to come from.

Anyone from another nation that can't gander that objectively is equally as stupid

Except unbalanced trade is what supports the American economy. Trump is a criminal moron.

You could once visit a first-level course in economics to possibly understand that international division of labor is not an evil to be combated, but a key driver of prosperity.

Those who impede imports, as Trump has done with his tariff policy, ultimately slow down capital inflows. Countries can only invest in the US if they have trade surpluses. But Trump is using precisely this surplus as justification for his insane tariffs.

That's no long-term strategy. Only a short-term staging.

A vulgar post has been removed, no need for that is there!

Aside from countries that simply cannot produce...truth is America is the only net importer.

So why can't America export enough goods?

They have NOTHING except weapons or "IT" that other countries want.

Cars for example - they design and produce for the US only. Nobody else wants an US car.

So instead of doing some homework to produce things that are demanded worldwide you complain that we - outside of the US - shall buy stuff that's not worth the money.

"Econ course" - eh?

There is no education in MAGA, just: "Trump said so."

Thailand seems to be obsessed with tarrifs, with wine in particular being one of the highest taxed products on the planet, and luxury goods taxed to a degree where it diminishes sales dramatically. The dunces who loves tariffs don't seem to understand you lower taxes, you increase sales, and you make the economy more dynamic.

They don't care about sales, they've civil servants, there are no sales - only taxes

Funny how everyone is criticising Trump when it is Thailand that has the insanely high tariffs on US imports.

But it's OK for them for some reason.

White guilt. Pathetic Liberals.

Out of the clear Blue…
…Dinner last night at Apples ,

Trump wants to make Thailand pay 36% in Tariffs , they / them said to another.

Thailand can’t afford that they/ them said.

Me: Its being negotiated.

They/ them : Oh!

Not easy. If Thailand drops tariffs on US rice imports it could ravage the Thai rice farming industry.

Agreed, but that is the whole point. The U.S industry is already being raveged by foreign tariffs and it has caused trade deficits for decades. (Note: Its big contribution to the U.S. $36 trillion national debt).  No country should benefit from unbalanced trade at the expense to another country. Trump wants to put a stop to it.
