The thumbs is nature’s gift to the keyboard warrior with the emotional depth of a wet napkin. Nothing quite captures the spirit of online discussion like a silent, smug click from some anonymous genius who couldn’t be bothered to spell 'their' correctly but still felt morally obligated to declare your post unworthy. It’s less feedback, more digital bird-flip from a drive-thru of fragile egos. So validating to know your thoughts were reviewed, judged, and executed by Captain Insecurity in his mom’s basement.

Well it is easy to see their character. I joined to discuss Thailand. Some can't discuss anything. They gain nothing from emojis and nothing from complaining. But people rarely change. Dezlez just follows me from topic to topic. What a sad life. Claims I'm boring then spends all week reading 100% of my posts then responding with one line of drivel. The guy has no self awareness or ability to hold a conversation. Like talking to a 5yo.

Wow. Where are you guys coming from? Is there an invasion of sanity?

He, do you think men can become women by just saying so?

In that case why start most of your non Thailand based topics like your latest one "Don't chase happiness"?

That is not Thailand specific!

Trump's 1st 6 months have been incredible(y) bad for the rest of the world and possibly for a lot of Americans as well!

But when questioned, you could NEVER tell anyone why......

After this emoji was introduced here at AN, I found it appearing in a most surprising, confusing & irrelevant forms.

It would be great if someone with a knowledge of psychology, explain how and why this is so prevalent? Perhaps a misunderstood emoji?

no psychology needed, hatrs gotta hate

The mods could create a forum section for individuals who are deeply affected after receiving a thumbs-down, where they can access the therapy they need.

Put the thumbs down people into a separate area for unhappy people. Only thumbs down there. Other sections only thumbs up.

Getting a thumbs-down must be traumatic.  Oh, the humanity.

It's the stalking and arrogance that ruins topics. Every week you see topics getting shut down because these people have zero interest in a normal discussion. Chiang Mai topic triggered haters even. They can't talk like grow adults.

This is an online forum.   It's entertainment.   A thumbs-down will not end your life or give you cancer.

No but if leftists gained control of the site they would be used to censor your posts

Then, I'd move on and let them live in a echo chamber.

Yeah I just posted a series of matter of fact informational posts about secured credit cards. One of them might have been seen as controversial by some. Some bozo took the time to thumbs down all of them. I get that on political type topics in these tribal times. But secured credit cards for Chrissakes?  I've come to the conclusion that the thumbs downers don't add to the forum and it would be better off to scrap them.

Moderators can see who makes those unjustified thumbs down, and in your case, I'm 1000% sure it are the 5 or 6 hardcore cult members.

So instead of scrapping the thumbs down, the correct solution would be to scrap thoze idiots from the forum

Good scrap the hardcore lefties. They use them the most. Forum be awesome then. The top 5 users are all on the left.

Did you feel a disturbance in the force each time someone hit the thumbs-down button?
