The questioning will be behind closed doors.

Yes, that is my understanding too. It will not be a public hearing. The House Oversight Committee has moved to issue a subpoena for a deposition, not hold an open, televised hearing and will depose Maxwell in prison, coordinating with the Bureau of Prisons and the Department of Justice to schedule the meeting.

That means Maxwell will testify privately in a closed setting, likely in a secured room with committee staff, not on the House floor or in front of cameras. Potentially a big nothing burger. Then we will all be told something like "Nothing to see here" or maybe "It's boring, just forghettaboutit".

His tactic now is to create a major distraction to disrupt the current news cycle and shift the focus. He is targeting Obama, accusing him of seditious conspiracy and treason. That could end up being the next wave of chaos that consumes some of the airwaves.

So you were oblivious the the media using trump/Epstein as a distraction to shift focus from from traitor Obama and the fake Russan collusion

Ah, off topic, untrue, but irrelevant. Now, Trump/Epstein isn't a partisan issue. You got both sides wanting transparency.

Back on topic: The motion was introduced by Rep. Tim Burchett, a Republican, seeking to subpoena Maxwell. As I said, this isn't a partisan issue. Everybody only wants the truth.

NB to the above:

Maxwell didn’t respond to a letter requesting an interview * sent to her in prison. Arthur Aidala, an attorney representing Maxwell in her appeal, said, “At this point, she is focused on her case before the Supreme Court of the United States.”

NB that the 'appeal' referenced above to the Supreme Court is not about the merits of the convictions but as to whether the 2006 NPA 'no prosecution agreement' with Epstein also covers Ms. Maxwell and the Government has replied to the Court that it does not.

An amicus brief in support of Maxwell says that it is typical that a federal NPA will specifically state that this agreement only applies to this district which the Epstein agreement does not.

e.g. from amicus:

District of Colorado: “This agreement binds only the
Criminal Division of the United States Attorney’s Office
for the District of Colorado and the defendant.”

DOJ urges Supreme Court to turn away Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell's appeal --  July 15, 2025, 7:13 AM

The Department of Justice on Monday urged the Supreme Court to turn away an appeal from Ghislaine Maxwell, the former associate of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for conspiring with and aiding Epstein in his sexual abuse of underage girls.

Maxwell, 63, had urged the court earlier this year to review her case, arguing that an unusual co-conspirator's clause in Epstein's 2007 non-prosecution agreement with federal prosecutors in Florida barred her subsequent prosecution in New York. A district court and a federal appeals court previously rejected that argument, and the DOJ today urged the high court to do the same.

"That contention is incorrect, and petitioner does not show that it would succeed in any court of appeals," wrote U.S. Solicitor General D. John Sauer.

Justice Department reaches out to Maxwell as calls for Epstein transparency grow louder on Capitol Hill -- Updated 5:10 PM EDT, Tue July 22, 2025

Democrats criticized Blanche’s announcement, with Rep. Dan Goldman of New York accusing the deputy attorney general of “doing an end-run around the SDNY and its institutional policies by acting as a political agent of President Trump.”

“As Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche well knows from his lengthy tenure as a prosecutor and supervisor in the Southern District of New York, this is almost certainly not the first time the DOJ has inquired about cooperation from Ghislaine Maxwell, who, as a matter of course, would have been offered the opportunity to reduce her sentence in return for truthful and forthright information about Epstein and all others involved in the scheme,” Goldman, who also worked in the Southern District of New York’s US attorney’s office, said in a statement.

“Do not be fooled: this latest delay tactic is yet another effort to conceal the Epstein files,” he said.

Earlier today, the U.S. House Oversight Subcommittee voted unanimously by voice vote to issue a subpoena compelling Ghislaine Maxwell to testify before Congress. The motion was introduced by Rep. Tim Burchett, a Republican, and garnered bipartisan support from lawmakers across the aisle.

Meanwhile, the Department of Justice is preparing for a fresh interview: Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche plans to meet with Maxwell “in the coming days” to evaluate whether she can provide insight into Epstein’s network.

Now what?

It will be a significant show. Will it be broadcast on TV ?

House ending session early as Republicans clash over Epstein vote

Updated 8:15 AM GMT+7, July 23, 2025

WASHINGTON (AP) — House Speaker Mike Johnson is rebuffing pressure to act on the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, instead sending members home early for a month-long break from Washington after the week’s legislative agenda was upended by Republican members who are clamoring for a vote.

Johnson, a Republican from Louisiana, said Tuesday morning that he wants to give the White House “space” to release the Epstein information on its own, despite the bipartisan push for legislation that aims to force the release of more documents.

So how does Mike Johnson's decision to adjourn Congress early to avoid this debacle effect this situation? Will it simply be delayed until September allowing Trump sometime to figure out how to defuse the scandal?

Other than a perjury charge related to a 2016 civil deposition, all the charges against Ms. Maxwell in 2020 were for her actions between 1994 and 1997:

From at least 1994 through at least 1997, GHISLAINE MAXWELL assisted, facilitated, and participated in Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse of minor girls by, among other things, helping Jeffrey Epstein to recruit, groom, and ultimately abuse victims known to MAXWELL and Epstein to be under the age of 18.

Ain't going to happen unless a deal is reach whereby Maxwell promises to gives Trump a clean bill of health (ignoring the fat legs).....

Maxwell is in federal custody, so the DOJ and Bureau of Prisons (BOP) control access and logistics and can block her hearing If they determine that:

She’s too ill (or dead)

It poses security risks

It conflicts with her legal rights or prison policy

…they can deny the transfer to testify—even if Congress issues a subpoena.

Transfer, maybe from her cell to a control room within the prison. No need to transport her beyond the prison walls to be deposed by congressional members as the plan is to conduct the depositions at the prison.

Immaterial.....the only way it will happen is if she promises to exonerate Trump.....otherwise Bondi will leave her to rot in jail (as I guess many think she should)

And the discussion is about a congressional hearing not a deposition.

of what, of "throwing Epstein out of MAL"....Trump, if on the Epstein pedophile romps like Clinton and others, would have already been done for it, so you are setting yourself up for another democrat implode/meltdown derangement episode.

Took awhile, but finally deciphered that......why would Trump "have already been done for it"?

Desperate I know.....but a week is a long time in politics.....a chance to change the narrative, a chance to murder Maxwell, a chance Trump might die during recess, a chance to straighten out Maxwell and make sure she has all her ducks in a row......he has, the little snake, bought a little breathing space for something to happen.

Same reason your hero losers tried to shoot him, anything fake or real to stop the MAGA Machine. So, keeping it simple for you, its close to 100% certainty there's no Epstein dirt on Trump. If there was, it would have been leaked ling ago or used against Trump.
