Police have arrested a man wanted for his role in the brutal murder of a rubberwood businessman over a decade ago, following a tip-off that led authorities to a house in Hat Yai, Songkhla province.

Officers from the Crime Suppression Division (CSD), led by Pol. Maj. Gen. Wittaya Sriprasertphap, apprehended 36-year-old Taweesap, who was wanted under an arrest warrant issued by the Surat Thani Provincial Court. He faces charges of murder, concealment of a corpse and unlawful possession of a weapon in a public place.

The case dates back to 2014, when Mr. Wattana Ketkorn, a 55-year-old rubberwood contractor from Surat Thani, mysteriously disappeared after leaving home with 400,000 baht to settle a business transaction. Concerned relatives filed a missing person report with the Phunphin Police Station.

Police investigations later uncovered that Mr. Wattana had visited the home of his 25-year-old mistress, Ms. Supranee, shortly before vanishing. Under questioning, Ms. Supranee eventually confessed to conspiring with her lover, Taweesap, to lure Mr. Wattana to her home. There, the pair murdered him in a calculated robbery, stabbing and slashing the victim nearly ten times before burying the body near a worker’s camp in a rubber plantation.

Following her confession, officers located the victim’s buried body in the area described, confirming the gruesome details. Ms. Supranee was arrested and charged, while Taweesap fled the area and managed to evade capture for over 10 years.

After years on the run, Taweesap was finally tracked down and arrested at his residence in Ban Phru subdistrict, Hat Yai. He is now in custody and will face legal proceedings for his alleged crimes.

There'll be no bouncing back from this.

That's pretty petty of them to pull this out on him after all these years. Bet the guy is in a completely different place in life now. Who does it help dragging it out after so long?

There are so many creeps running around for years in this country, both from abroad and locals.

It kind of freaks you out sometimes.

So you think people should be able to get away with murder, if they can hide for 10 years or so?

What are you, 8 years old so 10 sounds like a long time?
