I think Trump’s great for the country, and I don’t think he’s a criminal.

At this point in time, Trump is exactly what the USA needs. No more "White Privilege" bs, no more DEI, 2 genders only, immigration is a massive issue perpetuated by the biden admin., law and order is on it's way back.

I can still remember getting my shoes shined in Chicago.

I was chatting to the black guy on my shoes, ex-boxer. My accent probably gave me away as not being from around there.

A white guy sat down a couple of chairs away. He had work boots which were badly scuffed, saying to the attendant "Put a good shine on those boots, boy".

My guy saw the look of disbelief on my face, and quietly said " This is what we put up with all our lives".

Racial hatred is alive and well in America.

FYI, the correct spelling of the mountain range is the Appalachians. Which tends to prove a non-American can know more about your country than you do.

I worked in mom & pop store in NYC, time reference is Gerald Ford.  One day I'm out front having a breath and run into a former high school classmate.   The guy is black.  Mom & pop were an interracial couple, she was black.  She saw us talking and told me so, I guess she was impressed.  She would bring it up in the future and always referred to him as "that boy."  And this is in Greenwich Village.  Always found that curious.

Apparently a $200 million ballroom for the rich and powerful has greater priority than maintaining national parks for the average family.

I suspect we may be making too much of the whole ballroom question?

After all, towards the end and just after the end of the last Trump Administration they ( ballrooms) played a central role in the storage of classified documents; in fact, a certain ballroom and it's adjacent khazi in Florida might be set to have set the "gold standard" in such matters!

It's a question of relative priorities. Nero fiddling while Rome burns.

The job losses in national parks are a manifestation of much deeper job cuts in other arms of government. Which is based on a lie, because the staffing levels for 330 million people are the same as when the population was half that.

Then there's the private sector. 100,000 aluminium jobs gone, corn farmers unable to sell what is in the silos, forced to let crops rot unharvested.

The denial is so complete Trump fires the labor statistics executive so he can install a compliant lackey, who will produce numbers that suit Trump.

I am gobsmacked Americans still swallow this nonsense.

It’s a distraction from his escapades with his bestie Epstein.

Again, I visited a National Park today, and it was great.

Why would you expect there would be as many employees now, as there would be before computers and whatnot?

There are more government employees now than there was five years ago

You are for high corporate income taxes, but against tariffs, yes?

Higher corporate taxes, reworking of the shelters and no tariffs. Also, universal healthcare. The tariffs are illegal anyway.

Through huge corporate tax cuts.

That's a dumb reply.   Companies moved overseas for cheaper labor.  The trend started in the 60s/70s.

I used to work for NPS.   There is a lot of dead weight in the ranks.

That is a really dumb reply. They took Reagans tax cuts and used them to capitalize the new factories overseas.

Corporate income taxes are just tariffs on domestic products. Ultimately, the consumer pays them.

So tax domestic products , but no tax on imports.

In my experience, staff cuts are usually the most extensive at the lowest pecking order in an organisation.

That means the useful staff, who are picking up rubbish visitors inevitably leave, would probably be first for the chop. The administrators would be less vulnerable.

What's in the national parks IMO is more significant than numbers. Yellowstone, Yosemite, Valley Forge and the Grand Canyon take some beating.

Apparently a $200 million ballroom for the rich and powerful has greater priority than maintaining national parks for the average family.

Who's paying for the new White House golden ballroom? What we know

https://www.snopes.com/news/2025/08/01/trump-gold-ballroom-white-house/

You need to do your research before you put up false information to this site. The ballroom will be funded by donations and much of that by President Trump himself.

How much have you donated to the U.S. National Parks? Nothing I would presume.

1967, and the POTUS was  Lyndon B. Johnson.

In a previous post, I agreed the ballroom would be privately funded. That's beside the point of national priorities, or your idol's need to assuage his id.

Please explain to me why an enlarged ballroom at the White House for the rich and powerful has more priority than staffing national parks properly.

As a MAGA faithful, do you think you will ever be invited there?

IIRC LBJ once advised the Premier of NSW to run over some demonstrators with the official car, which was taking police action a bit far.
