Facial recognition by 9 September

Featured Replies

"Contact your bank with your passport for facial recognition by 9 September"

I got this message, even though I never use the app: I only keep it installed for salary payment notifications. I have a few questions, since the bank isn't close to where I am now, nor is the ATM:
1) Does this message still allow me to use the ATM?
2) If I don't go to perform facial recognition, will the ATM also be blocked?

3) Can be done also trough the bank application?

I just read this.......

Starting from July–August 2025, Thai banks are required to implement biometric authentication—specifically facial recognition—for certain high-risk mobile transactions:

Transfers of 50,000 baht or more per transaction

Cumulative transfers of 200,000 baht or more per day

Requests to increase daily transfer limits above 50,000 baht

I've never used any of the three "options": but other than that, if I don't show up at the bank for this facial recognition, will I be able to use the ATM normally or will I have problems? Thanks.

I would say almost certainly yes you can use the ATM as normal!!! Unless you are doing any of the above.

I'm pretty sure ATM's have no facial recognition....it is only for the app and inside the bank.

Could be wrong.

Which bank this time?

There have been a few threads discussing how different banks are going about this.

After I asked yesterday morning, they just answered me now. Seems ATM can use as normal:

"If you are an existing bank customer and wish to perform ttb touch transactions that require face authentication, please bring your passport to any ttb branch to register your biometric/face data. This service will be available from 12 July 2025 onwards.

Face authentication required. Effective 9 September 2025 onwards.
Foreign customers will be required to authenticate transactions via face scan (Face authentication) when using ttb touch in the following instances:
- Transfer equal to or exceeding 50,000 THB/transaction.
- Cumulative transfer value reaching every 200,000 THB within one day.
- Increasing the daily transaction limit."

Facial (farcical) recognition for foreigners seldom works!!! Strangely my UK bank operates facial recognition without any need for a photo???

I made a topic on exactly this issue a couple of months back.

TTB Bank like all the other banks requires you to attend in person for the facial recognition update.

BUT unlike all the other banks, they completely freeze the App at the limit level that you set for it on the 7th of July.

In my case I had the App set at zero baht. Which means that until 9th of September I cannot use the app to make any transfers!

I have had to visit the bank in person twice in order to take money out over the counter and put into another bank.

I had been told that I can use my card as normal, but I found that when I attempted to use it it did not work. I went to the bank for them to check on this and then somehow it started working.

Thanks for the info: so, in your opinion, if I don't do that face recon, will able to use the ATM or take money out using the book bank after the due date? Now I can use the ATM as usual. Thank you again.

I think you will be able to. It seems the face scan is just for the App.

You are right: after few days, the bank answered me about that:

"ATM transactions, without the need for face scanning, can still be used as usual."
