The rifff raff are those who have a lot of money and spend most of it on hookers, beer and drugs

Thats not riff raff, thats successful busy investors enjoying life and a meaningful retirement via a combo of Billboard and FKK Sharks with a lot of room service and weed.

Who says that it is "fraud and illegal" if issued by a legitimate IO at a legitimate Immigration Office?

Try to get another extension but without agent after having done the first one with agent and out of province. You'll be told to leave the country and apply for a new visa.

So you have evidence that they are all Rif Raf some people use agents as it's more convenient, not having to drive for several hours then stuck in a long line for hours to be told to come back next week, by the way, having 800 k stuck in a single name account cause problems when the holder dies as the bank wont release it to the deceased estate a lawyer has to be brought inj who then has to take it to the courts for a judge to give written authorisation for the bank to release the funds if whoever is looking after your estate is lucky they might get the funds 6 or 9 months later with a bil in excess of 50,000 baht plus i saying this from experience as i was the executer of a friends will the 800 k cannot be held in a joint account and even if your married to a Thai it is still the same rule as the monies belong to the deceased not NOK until the court issues a release letter to the bank

They really need to allow for named beneficiaries.  I can see how this would be a major pain for people who are already stressed and in pain from the loss of a loved one.

Yeah, a bit of weeding out of the flotsam and jetsam's that are everywhere now days, wouldn't hurt at all.

Especially those corrupt Thais living off benefits over here in the west.

Assuming, of course, you aren't "flotsam and/or jetsam" yourself. It's none of our business to make commentary about who should stay and who should go.

I expect that most were Cambodians who are no longer of use for Thailand.

I don't think they're typically on student visas.

"The decision forms part of efforts to crack down on the misuse of student visas by those seeking illegal employment in Thailand."

I think what we're seeing - between the recent banking fiascos and account closures involving foreigners and the general immigration tightening - is both a response to the mule accounts by scammers, but also a move on the so-called foreign riff-raff. Throwing down the welcome mat to a foreigner who wants to stay long time but isn't bringing any fiscal impact isn't worth the country's time and effort (immigration, services, health care in government hospitals). I know many (like on this particular thread) say they can live like a Thai and live on a similar budget. Bear in mind a university educated Thai is lucky to be making 40k a month. And in any case, why would Thailand want to go out of its way to welcome in someone who is only going to spend the same amount as a Thai on 20-40k a month? It's just an unneeded hassle that doesn't generate any extra income - a few thousand foreigners eating 5 baht khao nieow and 10 baht moo daeng daily - and the odd Leo dishwater - like many of the 70 million Thais is a zero-sum gain. They (Thailand) don't want more poor people. They have lots already.

Why do you assume these "riff raffs" are only living on 20-40k baht a month? I assume you know the financial requirements are much higher than that, 65k and 800k, and a lot of foreigners may be just under that threshold, and will use an agent to be able to live full time in Thailand.

Foreigners spending 50-65k a month in Thailand, or even a lot more, just choosing to not keep 800k in a bank, are contributing a lot to the Thai society. They might even buy a condo, a car or a motorbike.

Your post makes no sense to me.

Lol. Deported by the same immigration that actually ALLOWS this to happen?

Dream on. This is a too lucrative business for them to stop their practice. It won't change the next decades.
