In Songkhla, a kindergarten teacher is under scrutiny after a video allegedly showing him striking a child's head during a sports event sparked outrage. The incident, which took place in the Bang Klam district, has led to demands for the teacher's immediate removal from the school.

The controversy arose when a video surfaced on Facebook, capturing the moment a teacher appeared to push a young boy’s head while he was participating in a sports day practice. The footage quickly gained attention, prompting the boy’s guardian and local authorities to get involved.

Teerawut Rueangsri, a member of the Provincial Administrative Organisation, and a village headman have stepped in to mediate the situation. The child's mother, shocked by the video, stated the incident occurred over a month ago, yet her son never mentioned it. After seeing the video, she decided to move her child and family from the school, fearing potential future harm. She also raised concerns about other students facing similar treatment from the same teacher.

The teacher in question met with the guardians to discuss the incident, explaining it as a misunderstanding. He maintained that during the relay race practice, he merely nudged the boy to start running, denying having struck him. Although apologetic for any misunderstanding, he avoided discussing his disciplinary methods further.

Sutthida Thongchoom, the school’s principal, acknowledged receiving multiple complaints about the teacher's aggressive disciplinary methods and temper. Despite taking some initial measures, the principal stressed the importance of maintaining composure, noting that teachers can sometimes feel overwhelmed.

A formal investigation has been launched, and a report will be sent to the Songkhla Primary Educational Service Area Office 2. The decision about the teacher’s future will align with school regulations and community preferences. Currently, he teaches history, health education, and physical education to grades 4 through 6.

This incident has stirred significant concern among parents and guardians, highlighting ongoing issues regarding teacher conduct in schools. As the investigation unfolds, the community awaits further actions to ensure student safety and uphold educational standards.
