Massive Tax Slash: Customs Cuts 8 Billion Baht from US Imports

Featured Replies

Would be nice to see some good Tequila being imported!  Some comes from US even though made in Mexico.

Good California wine (not the crap distributors are shipping over to Thailand) would be great!

Good Craft Beer would be nice at a cheaper price.

Does Thailand have a comparable "de minimus" exemption anymore?  I remember they scrapped this due to China flooding Thailand with cheap goods.  Why couldn't Thailand specifically target only China goods?

My understanding was the US Tariffs were to have more investment in the US with some companies moving business there.  So this would benefit the US as these companies would be building facilities and creating jobs, taxes for the economy.  Then these added jobs help because workers pay taxes, hopefully businesses pay some tax.

So why Tariffs initially hurt once a business has invested in a production facility or moving to the US they would continue to operate for X years after the Tariffs are removed because they would need people and facilities to move too that take time to acquire or be built.

I have lived in a few countries and ALL of them had taxes on Imports.  These taxes started at 30% and went up.  Impossible to compare countries as all this info is Not easily found on the internet.

There is One guaranteed FACT in all of this and thats the US will continue to buy stuff to some degree.  Never seen a country where some people Don't use 10 to 20% of the stuff they buy.
