A tragic road accident has claimed the lives of a mother and father, leaving their two young children orphaned, after a black Toyota pickup truck ran a red light and crashed into the family’s vehicle in Chanthaburi.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Sukhumvit Road and the Provincial Administrative Organisation junction. According to police, the black pickup truck ignored a red traffic signal and struck a silver Isuzu pickup that was legally crossing the junction on a green light, heading into the city from Taksin Road.

The impact was so severe that the family’s vehicle was thrown across the road. The parents, identified as Mr Thawatchai and Ms Parichat, were killed instantly. Their children, aged just five and ten, sustained serious injuries but survived the crash.

Speaking to reporters, a relative of the victims, Ms Ornthai, known locally as “Aunt Mod”, said she had watched CCTV footage of the incident.

“The other vehicle was coming very fast and hit my nephew’s car, sending it flying. Both parents have died and the children are badly hurt and now have no mother or father,” she said.

Ms Ornthai added that the family of the deceased had not heard from the driver, of the black pickup, who only suffered minor injuries, since the crash.

“We ask for compassion for these two little ones who have lost their parents so suddenly. We also call on the police to pursue this case so justice can be done and support provided to the children,” she pleaded.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.

There is a German who posts videos on YT under the name “strassenthailands” concerning all such accidents.
Now, believe me, your jaws drop open in amazement when you see what terrible drivers there are here.
More than once you see accidents with fatalities where the perpetrator just drives on without stopping.
Criminal behavior.

What is about black pick-ups and very aggressive and dangerous driving?
