The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has arrested a man accused of posing as a logistics broker in a long-running fraud that cost victims millions of baht.

Police from the Highway Patrol Division apprehended the suspect, identified only as Toey, 34, on Borommaratchachonnani Road in Nakhon Pathom’s Phutthamonthon district. He faces charges of fraud and computer crime, including the input of false or distorted data into a computer system likely to cause damage to others.

The arrest followed numerous complaints from victims who had blacklisted the suspect across online platforms, including the Blacklistseller website and transport contractor groups. According to reports, Toey claimed to act as an intermediary for companies seeking freight services. After securing contracts and payments from clients, he allegedly failed to pass on the money to the transport firms, pocketing the funds instead.

Police revealed that the suspect was previously arrested on fraud charges in 2021. Despite serving his sentence, he allegedly returned to the same deceptive practices. In August, more victims came forward, claiming losses ranging from hundreds of thousands to millions of baht, prompting the Nonthaburi Provincial Court to issue a warrant for his arrest.

Acting on a tip-off, Highway Patrol officers located and detained him before handing him over to Chaiyapruek Police Station for legal proceedings.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Pol Lt Gen Jiraphop Bhuridej, Commissioner of the CIB, alongside senior officers from the Highway Police Division.

Authorities have urged further victims to come forward to ensure all offences are brought to justice.
