A 74-year-old man has died after he lost control of his pickup truck on a bend and collided head-on with a 10-wheel lorry, leaving the vehicle completely wrecked. The crash occurred around noon on 2 September on Route 1030, between Saelang and Wang Saem Subdistricts, Muang District.

Police Sub-Lieutenant Neramit Pongsalee and forensic officers from Chanthaburi City Police, along with medical examiners from Phrapokklao Hospital, attended the scene.

The collision happened on a curve on the uphill stretch in the left-hand lane towards Wang Saem. A white Hino truck, registered in Chanthaburi, was found on the roadside after the collision. The Toyota Hero pickup was mangled beyond recognition, with parts scattered across the road. The driver, Mr. Sinchai, also known as “Pa Chin,” a respected local businessman and owner of the earth-moving company Plubplathong, was found trapped inside the wreckage.

Police noted long skid marks from the pickup across lanes leading to the collision, and skid marks from the truck indicating it had braked hard before ending up on the shoulder. Photographs were taken to document the scene.

The truck driver, Mr. Montri, 36, from Soi Dao District, Chanthaburi, told police he was travelling at 60–70 km/h from Saelang intersection towards Wang Saem when the pickup entered the curve from the opposite direction, lost control and swerved into his lane. Despite braking and attempting to avoid the collision, the vehicles crashed head-on. He emphasised that no other vehicles were involved.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, reviewing CCTV footage and examined the scene to determine the precise sequence of events. The truck driver was questioned further as part of the investigation to ensure a fair legal process.
