A delivery van was completely destroyed by fire, leaving the driver injured as he fled to safety.

The incident occurred in Soi 7/2, Sahakorn Housing Estate 3, Bang Phut sub-district, Pakkred district, Nonthaburi. Police from Pakkred Station were alerted to the blaze, and firefighters from the Pakkred Municipality promptly arrived to tackle the flames.

On arrival, authorities found a white enclosed pick-up van, registration from Bangkok, engulfed in flames. Firefighters brought the fire under control after approximately 20 minutes, but the vehicle was completely destroyed.

The driver, Mr. Donarit Tochuawong, 29, who works as a delivery driver, sustained injuries while attempting to remove parcels from the van. He suffered cuts to his neck, chest and body from broken glass and was treated at the scene by Ruamkatanyu Foundation rescue volunteers before being transported to hospital.

Investigations revealed that the vehicle began to emit smoke from the engine compartment, before the fire erupted. Witnesses reported hearing the vehicle horn stuck on for several minutes, followed by a loud bang as the fire spread.

Ms. Kongthong, 77, a local resident who witnessed the incident, said: “I was sitting at home, when I heard the horn blaring for a long time. Then I heard a loud explosion. I saw smoke coming from the van. The fire spread so quickly that the driver had to escape. Luckily, our car was moved away from the gate in time or it would have been damaged too.”

Police are examined evidence at the scene to determine the exact cause of the fire.
