The left is still mad at Isreal over the holocaust.

Not sure how that is to be read but I would assume the mentality is the same.

You are  making assumptions based upon a biased  position. In war, mistakes occur. The Israeli statement was rushed out to respond to inquiries and was based upon a field report that was erroneous and mixed up circumstances. There had been a fire fight with Hamas including Hamas militants in vehicles prior to the "ambulance" event. Those vehicles were not identified as ambulances, nor were they  "lit up". The  person writing the report included the ambulances in their report and was wrong. Errors like that are common in war zones. Combat soldiers give verbal reports to the rear and the administration clerk writes up the information. That person or persons made erroneous assumptions about the ambulance that was hit. Don't assume that  IDF clerical staff are top notch.  Some of them are poorly educated, lazy  and downright stupid. In the IDF the useless type of people are put into clerical roles. I can easily see some slob not verifying and putting down whatever he or she thought would pass. It would not be the first time corners were cut and regulations not followed.

The reality of Gaza is that Hamas does use ambulances to transport militants and supplies. It is understandable why and how an ambulance  could be seen as a legitimate target when there was a fire fight prior to the ambulance's arrival. The firefight that occurred prior to the ambulance event  resulted in  2 Hamas militants dead and 2 captured. The captured personnel had been armed and readily admitted to being  Hamas militants, even though they were dressed as civilians. There was no conspiracy. The reality of war is that information is often fractured and incomplete. Friendly fire casualties are also a common occurrence.

You’re obfuscating Israel’s slaughter of emergency service crews, burying the evidence, lying about the slaughter and only admitting ‘a mistake’ once the evidence of their lies was revealed.

Don’t forget little details like ‘the rescue vehicles didn’t have their emergency service lights on’.

Except the video evidence proved they did.

Don't forget that's not the only lie they've been caught in.

Neither hamas nor israeli government information can be trusted.

Correct on both points.

I see the ‘antisemite’ slur has poked its ugly head up again.

I have never before heard the word "antisemite" described as a slur.  It is important to identify anti-Jewish tropes presented deceptively as legitimate criticism, with the term "Zionist" used to mask  the real intent.  The Chancellor of Germany explained it well.

Germany’s Merz warns criticism of Israel used as guise for ‘poison of antisemitism’

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Wednesday that criticism of Israel was increasingly being used in Germany as a pretext for stoking hatred against Jews.

Speaking at an event to mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Central Council of Jews, Merz said that antisemitism had “become louder, more open, more brazen, more violent almost every day” since the Hamas-led massacre on October 7, 2023, that ignited the Gaza war.

“‘Criticism of Israel’ and the crudest perpetrator-victim reversal is increasingly a pretext under which the poison of antisemitism is spread,” he said, warning that “antisemitic rhetoric is becoming normalized.”

That's why it is necessary to stay vigilant on forums such as Asean Now so that antisemitic rhetoric doesn't become normalized.

Could have stopped at "Israel says". Saif Abu Keshk is a terrorist for participating in a march to deliver aid to Palestine?b Get real!

You’ve never heard of the accusation of antisemitism/antisemite being used to shutdown valid criticism of Israel?

I’m surprised, not least because that’s exactly what you are doing in the above post.

”Criticism of Israel being used as a guise for poison of antisemitism”

I’m sure in some cases it is, but there are many valid criticisms of Israel that are absolutely not ‘antisemitism’.

——

Back to the topic of the thread, Israel is making accusations against the members of the flotilla.

I’m not buying it. My earlier remark still stands:

Does any rational person believe anything Israel says anymore?

Israel are indisputably engaged in a propaganda campaign and have on a number of occasions disseminated false and misleading information.

That’s part the nature of war and precisely why the accusations being made need to be treated with skepticism.

Internal conflicts have hit the board of directors of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), a multinational convoy of several dozen vessels aiming to breach Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza.

Alleged “wokeness”, political activism and in particular LGBTQ activism has led to serious discontent.

Le Courrier de l’Atlas, a French-language monthly magazine and online outlet covering Maghreb affairs, reported on September 16 that local GSF co-ordinator Khaled Boujemâa announced his resignation in protest at the presence of LGBTQ activists in the flotilla, including Saif Ayadi, who identifies as a “queer activist”.

The flotilla may not be welcome in Gaza .

There are some objections to the homosexuals aboard the flotilla

“What do you expect an Arab Muslim to think when he hears the slogans of this ‘queer’ movement within a flotilla launched in the name of his most sacred and central cause, only to see it degraded in this way!?”

Yep, it's a crime to bring food and medicine to the starving and sick.

I don't believe Israel's claim for a second. On the other hand, who cares where the genuine aid is coming from?

How many Israeli warships will it take to seize all 40+ boats in the flotilla?
