Authorities across Egypt are on high alert as they hunt for a 3,000-year-old gold bracelet that vanished from a top museum in Cairo. This priceless piece, decorated with lapis lazuli beads, dates back to the era of King Amenemope from the 21st Dynasty. The Antiquities Ministry swiftly involved the police after the bracelet disappeared from the Egyptian Museum's restoration lab.

The missing bracelet's image has been broadcast across Egyptian airports, seaports, and border crossings. This "precautionary step" aims to thwart any smuggling attempts, according to ministry officials. Additionally, a specialised committee has been tasked with inventorying and reviewing all the artefacts in the lab to ensure nothing else is missing.

The ministry refrained from announcing the loss immediately, citing the need to foster an effective investigative atmosphere. However, Al-Misri al-Yawm revealed that the museum staff discovered the bracelet's absence while preparing artefacts for an exhibition in Rome.

As a hub of ancient treasures, the Egyptian Museum and its rich collection, including King Amenemope's gilded funerary mask, hold significant value. The bracelet's disappearance is especially shocking given the upcoming inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza, which is set to showcase King Tutankhamun's renowned relics.
