September 23, 2025Sep 23 Popular Post video screenshot US President Donald Trump has advised against pregnant women using Tylenol, citing an alleged link between the drug and autism, despite inconclusive evidence. On Monday, Trump declared in the Oval Office, alongside Health Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr, that paracetamol, known in the US as acetaminophen, should be used only for extreme fever during pregnancy. This statement arrives amidst a divisive discourse over the safety of the drug for expectant mothers. Multiple studies have attempted to establish a connection between Tylenol during pregnancy and autism, but findings are inconsistent. Drug manufacturer Kenvue has defended the use of paracetamol, stating that independent research does not link it to autism. They emphasise the risk of denying a proven safe pain relief option for pregnant women, suggesting that without it, they may turn to more dangerous alternatives. Health Secretary Kennedy remarked that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will alert doctors about potential risks associated with Tylenol for pregnant women. Additionally, the FDA plans a public health awareness campaign and a drug safety label update. Furthermore, Kennedy announced the forthcoming FDA approval of Leucovorin, a cancer drug that may assist autistic children with folate deficiency in enhancing verbal skills. The Autism Science Foundation noted some studies associate low folate levels during early pregnancy with increased autism risk, though results are varied. Trials show folinic acid, unlike regular folic acid, could cross the blood-brain barrier and alleviate vitamin deficiency, affecting autism symptoms. While some trials report improvements, experts advise caution as more research is necessary to form definitive conclusions. Critics have responded, suggesting the announcement oversimplifies autism's complex causes. Dr Steven Fleischman of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists claimed it neglects comprehensive scientific evidence. While some recent studies suggest caution over Tylenol use during pregnancy, others, including a major study in Sweden, found no definitive link between the drug and autism. Currently, Tylenol is widely recommended as a safe option by medical communities worldwide. The increase in autism diagnoses over recent decades may partly result from heightened awareness and broader definitions of the disorder. Despite earlier unsubstantiated claims by Kennedy tying vaccines to autism's rise, scientific consensus attributes it to genetic and environmental factors. Key Takeaways: Trump calls for restricting Tylenol use in pregnancy, citing autism risks, despite mixed evidence. FDA plans an awarenesscampaign; Kenvue defends Tylenol's safety. Experts stress the complexity of autism's causes, opposing the administration's stance. Adapted by ASEAN Now from BBC 2025-09-23

September 23, 2025Sep 23 Popular Post There is no debate. No new evidence, or any evidence, was provided by Trump & Co. Trump in his typical stumbling way said something like "Well, they (pregnant women) need to tough it out (re fevers)... or if they can't, take one tylenol..." Fevers can be dangerous to fetus, especially in first trimester He could not even pronounce acetaminophen.... makes one think he was just handed something to read.... happening more and more.
September 23, 2025Sep 23 Popular Post There's more autism now due to the fact that we are more educated and increased testing. Back in the day, people with ASD were the 'weirdos' and were sent to special schools or hospitals.....

September 23, 2025Sep 23 Popular Post There is a much greater risk of autism if the mother is allowed to suffer prolonged, high temperature fevers......and the biological pathways explaining this are well understood. There is no scientific evidence showing paracetamol causes autism and no biological pathway.

Amish children are hospitalized for vaccine-preventable diseases at more than twice the rate of non-Amish children. Outbreaks of contagious diseases have led to temporary increases in vaccination when community members advocate for broader protection. Autism Amish families rarely seek formal evaluations; many children are homeschooled, reducing exposure to diagnostic screening. Behavioral differences may be interpreted through religious or community lenses rather than medical ones.

September 24, 2025Sep 24 Trump is not forcing anyone to NOT take tylenol. He just warns pregnant women. Take it or leave it. Why are people so against this ? Do they own stock in Kenvue or other paracetamol companies ? Maybe he should force those women to register that they took tylenol , so their autism kids can sue them later.

September 24, 2025Sep 24 Autism was first diagnosed or discovered in 1911 (probably was always around), Tylenol wasn't invented until 1955. But if you want to follow the made up findings of a heroin junkie, thiat is on you. Unfortunately, there is no cure for stupidity.

September 24, 2025Sep 24 This kind of bee ess creates a kind of "public health governance crisis" where people's medical decisions become tribal rather than evidence-based. Whether the constitutional remedy is impeachment or other approaches (like stronger institutional independence for health agencies) is the question.
