Trump $1 Coin Under Consideration for America's 250th Anniversary

The U.S. Treasury Department is weighing plans to mint a $1 coin featuring Donald Trump to commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary in 2026. The draft design, revealed Friday, shows Trump’s profile on one side and a defiant image of him with a raised fist and the words “FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT” on the other.

A Treasury spokesperson said the concept reflects “the enduring spirit of our country and democracy, even in the face of immense obstacles.” The project is overseen by U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach, who hinted on X that more details will follow “once the obstructionist shutdown of the United States government is over.”

While Congress authorized commemorative coins for the semquicentennial back in 2020—legislation Trump himself signed—the law requires designs to be “emblematic” of U.S. history. Featuring a living president, however, could prove controversial, as federal law traditionally bars depictions of living individuals on U.S. currency.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters she wasn’t sure whether Trump had seen the design but added, “I’m sure he’ll love it.”

If approved, the Trump coin would mark a rare departure from long-standing U.S. numismatic tradition—and an unmistakable political statement heading into the country’s 250th year.

Key Takeaways:

  • Treasury Department weighing a $1 Trump coin for 2026’s 250th anniversary.

  • Design shows Trump’s face and slogan “FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT.”

  • Featuring a living president could violate currency laws.

A two-cent coin would be more appropriate. These one-dollar coins are made out of pot metal and gold paint? In the US, nobody uses that one-dollar coin, first commemorating

Susan B. Anthony, who actually did something good for America, women's suffrage.

To my knowledge, she never used orange warpaint.

Why stop at a $1 coin, why not put his face all all US currency?

Does the USA have coin operated public toilets?  They could come in handy!
