Prince Andrew: Epstein email - We are in this together

A 2011 email from Prince Andrew to Jeffrey Epstein has surfaced, causing further scrutiny of the Duke of York's past associations. The email, revealed by the Mail on Sunday and the Sun on Sunday, contradicts Andrew's previous claims that he severed ties with Epstein in December 2010. In the email, Andrew expressed solidarity with Epstein, saying, “we are in this together.”

This correspondence followed the release of a photograph featuring Andrew, Virginia Giuffre, and Ghislaine Maxwell. Despite previously stating in a 2019 BBC interview that he ended his friendship with Epstein in 2010, the February 2011 email suggests otherwise. Andrew's message expressed concern for Epstein and mentioned staying in touch, signed as “A, HRH The Duke of York, KG.”

Epstein, who faced sex trafficking charges, died in his Manhattan jail cell in 2019, with his death ruled as a suicide. The nature of Andrew and Epstein's relationship has been scrutinized repeatedly, especially after court documents revealed portions of Andrew's emails in legal cases, highlighting ties with figures like Jes Staley, former Barclays CEO.

This development has prompted new inquiries towards Buckingham Palace and the Duke of York’s office for comments, especially given Andrew's previous statements. As additional details surface, like Tony Blair’s past meeting with Epstein, public interest in the relationships and the implications for those involved continues to grow.

Key Takeaways

  • Prince Andrew's 2011 email to Epstein suggests ongoing contact.
