GAZA DESCENDS INTO CLAN WAR HOURS BEFORE HOSTAGE RELEASE

Dozens were killed in Gaza on Sunday as brutal fighting erupted between Hamas and powerful local clans, shattering a fragile calm just hours before a planned hostage release.

Witnesses described chaos and panic as gunfire tore through Gaza City’s Sabra neighborhood, home to the Doghmush family militia. “This time people weren’t fleeing Israeli attacks. They were running from their own people,” one resident told the BBC.

According to Israeli outlet Ynet, the violence began when Hamas militants raided the Doghmush stronghold, accusing the clan of attacking its forces and collaborating with Israel. Clan members claimed Hamas exploited the ceasefire to crush local rivals. “They arrested all the youths, lined them up against walls. There is a massacre here,” one said.

Reports say at least 52 Doghmush clan members and 12 Hamas fighters were killed. Among the dead was blogger Salah al-Ja‘farawi, who had celebrated the Oct. 7 attacks, and the son of senior Hamas figure Basem Naim.

Hamas’s Interior Ministry later announced a “clemency framework” allowing clan fighters and criminals not involved in bloodshed to surrender by next Sunday, warning of “severe punishment” for those who refuse.

Meanwhile, three anti-Hamas militias declared support for President Trump’s peace plan, rejecting Hamas’s rule over Gaza. Israel confirmed Hamas is expected to hand over 20 living hostages to the Red Cross by noon Monday local time.

Key takeaways:

  • At least 64 killed in Gaza’s worst internal fighting in years.

  • Hamas accused of exploiting ceasefire to crush rival Doghmush clan.

  • Hostage release and Trump-brokered peace plan hang in the balance.

That should give Hamas something to do for a while.

Palestinians must get rid of Hamas by themselves. Outsider influence will not bring an end to terrorism.
