No Palestinian State, No Peace: Jordan’s King Warns

Never mind. At least now the whole world has Donald Trump, the greatest hero since George Washington crossed the Rubicon to defeat Alexander the Great.

  • I believe King Abdullah is correct.   There is now a great deal of popular global support for Palestine; as well as anger against Israel and the Zionists for their war crimes and genocide.

  • There’s a lot of support for a Palestinian state rite now……if I were the Palestinians I’d be pushing hard for that and removing hammas from their lands!

  • Palestinian state or not, imo there will never be peace in the middle east until the hatred for one another is gone.

Nothing wrong with having a Palestinian state, problem is the terrorists of Hamas... which must go. The PA in the West Bank seems to be getting along just fine. Get rid of Hamas, and let the Palestinian Aurthorities in the West Bank take over and give it a shot.

As an aside, there should already be a Patestinian state, as Clinton almost did it in the early 90s, Israel agreed to it... but Arafat ultimately said "No".

That’s wrong. The two-state process in the 1990s was undermined by actions on both sides, but Israel played the major role in derailing it. After the Oslo Accords, settlement expansion continued, even though it was supposed to stop. That weakened Palestinian trust and undercut moderate leaders like Yasser Arafat. IMHO, this will be the downfall of any peace process, there are many illegal settlements still in the West Bank and Jerulesel with crazy Israeli ministers planning more, as they think international law doesn't apply to them.

Israeli far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has said plans to build more than 3,000 homes in a controversial settlement project in the occupied West Bank will "bury the idea of a Palestinian state".

The so-called E1 project between Jerusalem and the Maale Adumim settlement has been frozen for decades amid fierce opposition internationally. Building there would effectively cut off the West Bank from occupied East Jerusalem.

The person who came closest to achieving peace was Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. He signed the Oslo Accords and genuinely pursued a two-state solution. He was assassinated in 1995 by an Israeli right-wing extremist who opposed peace with the Palestinians. His death opened the door for someone with similar right wing views, Benjamin Netanyahu to get into power and since then, settlement growth and hardline policies have made a Palestinian state much harder to achieve. With Netanyahu in power, there will never be any peace!

Whilst some of your answer has merit, I would not be quoting the BBC as an unbiased news source... it's hopelessly biased and agenda-driven. Try a neutral news source like Ground News... way better.

I’ll check it out.

You neglected to mention the continuous wave of terrorist attacks targeting Israel’s civilian population, which was the primary factor that derailed the Oslo peace process.

   What  funny joke ..........................🥴

I don't disagree in principle. But let's get the place rebuilt and get a functioning economy in place before charging to statehood. What kind of state would be 100% reliant on foreign aid, with no intrastructure, and in the midst of political upheaval?

Let the builders rebuild Gaza. Give the people time to enjoy life without constant threats. Let them enjoy prosperity. Then a state can come.

Pretty tired and hungry, I'd imagine.

In their Letters of Mutual Recognition of 9 September 1993, days before the signing of the Oslo I Accord, each party agreed to accept the other as a negotiation partner. The PLO recognized the State of Israel. Israel recognized the PLO as "the representative of the Palestinian people"; no more, no less.

Undoubtedly. And unlike Duterte, Netanyahu is unlikely to be betrayed by his own political foes.

They stick together. Even mafioso are allowed to live in Israel freely.

How long will it take to rebuild Gaza ?

50 years ?

Probably less than five.  Hotels and casinos are not particularly complicated, and there are templates available.

How would being recognized as a state benefit non-combatant residents of Palestine?

The Palestinian lack the chops or the leadership to run their own state.

It will give the "leaders" the ability to get more foreign aid to enrich themselves in the name of the little people

You mean the same as any Politicians throughout the world?

The most straightforward path to wealth is by becoming an elected official.  In these third-world countries, it's even worse.   Yasser Arafat's net worth was estimated to be around $1 billion.

There will be lots of lies and propaganda from Israel, they are itching to force all a Gazans out, or kill them.

From the UN special Rapporteur-

Again: Ceasefire according to Israel=“you cease, I fire.” Calling it “peace” is both an insult and a distraction.
All eyes on Palestine: Israel must face justice, sanctions, divestment, boycott UNTIL occupation, apartheid and genocide are over and every crime is accounted for.

Hamas gunmen crossed the cease-fire line and IDF shot them .

Hamas broke the ceasefire agreement by crossing the line

It would give its non-combatant residents international legal status, stronger access to aid, and a voice in global institutions. Meanwhile, Israel continues to expand hundreds of illegal settlements in occupied territory, violating international law and worsening daily life for Palestinians. True peace requires accountability, an end to occupation, and recognition of Palestinians’ right to self-determination.

Palestinians’ right to self-determination.

The last time the Palestinians had the opportunity to exercise self-determination, they elected Hamas.

That’s nonsense. Palestinians haven’t had a real chance to vote or live freely in nearly 20 years. You can’t call it “self-determination” when they’re under occupation, facing blockades, and denied basic political rights. One flawed election doesn’t erase decades of systemic control.

Just now, JimCM said:

How have their lives improved since the UK, France, China, Spain and the other 130 countries have recognized them as a state? How would international legal status help them?

Just now, JimCM said:

In what way?

What international laws are being violated?

The Palestinians are stupid people who will never build a stable nation. Why do you people put so much effort into defending these silly people?

Twenty years ago they voted for Hamas and the eradication of Israel.

So you agree with me, all politicians are bent as a 9 bob note

Peanuts to what some politicians are worth in developed countries, and your hero in the US has made probably more through corruption in the last 9 months alone.

Can you back that up or are you just lying like always?

It is about as likely that they are all bent as it is they are all straight.
