Two Chinese men were arrested in Bangkok’s Din Daeng district after police discovered they had converted rented houses into illegal hostels and were selling unregistered supplements and Viagra online. The arrests were made on October 16, 2025, following a joint operation by Sutthisan Police, immigration officers, labour officials and Huai Khwang district staff.

Pol Colonel Porntep Chalermkiat, Superintendent of Sutthisan Police Station, said the raid was carried out after complaints were received about a group of Chinese nationals allegedly living and working illegally in the area. Officers searched two houses in Soi Inthamara 49, Ratchadaphisek subdistrict, where the suspects, identified as Jiang Hua, the tenant of both properties and Wu, his employee, were found.

Inside the first house, police discovered large quantities of unregistered food and pharmaceutical products, including Viagra, packed and ready for shipment. The second house had been modified into a makeshift hostel for rent and live-streaming equipment used to promote products online. Officers also found evidence of a sideline business renting Buddhist amulets.

Jiang Hua told police that he paid 15,000 baht per month for each house and denied operating a hostel, claiming the rooms were prepared for foreign friends visiting Thailand. He also denied selling illegal medicines, despite the discovery of substantial evidence linking the operation to online sales.

Investigators have charged Jiang Hua under the Alien Employment Management Act B.E. 2560 (2017) for working without a permit. Authorities also plan to inspect whether the properties were illegally modified for commercial use. The Din Daeng District Office will conduct a follow-up inspection on October 17 to determine if building regulations were violated.

If further offences are confirmed, officials said legal action will be taken not only against the suspects but also the property owner for allowing the premises to be used for illegal activities. Police emphasised that similar operations will continue across Bangkok to curb unauthorised employment and online sales of unlicensed drugs.
