Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok has been ranked 12th among the world’s 50 most connected airports in 2025, according to the Official Airline Guide (OAG). Airports of Thailand (AOT) highlighted Suvarnabhumi's position in the Global Airport Megahubs category, further cementing its status as a key player in international connectivity. The airport is also fifth in the Asia-Pacific region for top international hubs.

The OAG rankings, derived from flight seat scheduling between September 2024 and August 2025, underscore the robust network of flight connections at major airports globally. Suvarnabhumi’s improved ranking reflects its expansive flight network and efficient operations, noted AOT. Don Mueang International Airport also made a mark, ranking 22nd in the Low-Cost Carrier Airport Megahubs category.

Earlier this year, DestinAsia readers voted Suvarnabhumi as the second-best airport in 2025, praising its service quality, safety, and passenger satisfaction. Additionally, Skytrax improved Suvarnabhumi’s ranking to 39th in their top 40 best airports for 2025, showing a noteworthy rise from 58th last year. Don Mueang achieved eighth among low-cost airports.

In July, Suvarnabhumi surpassed major hubs like Paris and Dubai to be named the world’s No. 1 airport for airline service, hosting 113 carriers. The Transport Ministry lauded this as a significant achievement for Thailand's aviation industry. Looking forward, the government plans significant infrastructure enhancements including terminal expansions and a fourth runway to boost global rankings further.

AOT envisions Suvarnabhumi climbing into the top 20 airports worldwide within the next five years. These improvements are expected to continue bolstering Thailand's reputation as a central aviation hub in Asia-Pacific.

Key Takeaways

  • Suvarnabhumi ranks 12th in OAG’s 2025 global connectivity list.
  • The airport also named top for airline service with 113 carriers.
  • Major upgrades planned to improve international rankings further
