Police in Nonthaburi have arrested a married couple accused of stealing gold and cash worth hundreds of thousands of baht from their blind employer. The suspects, a 38-year-old man and his 34-year-old wife, allegedly used a grinder to cut open a safe inside the victim’s home, escaping with 15 baht-weight of gold and 200,000 baht in cash.

On 16 October, officers from Rattanathibet Police Station arrested the husband, Anuchit, under a warrant issued by the Nonthaburi Provincial Court (No. จ.1401/3568) for house theft involving damage to property protection measures. He was detained in Sao Thong Hin, Bang Yai district. Shortly after, his wife, Sureerat, arrived at the station to visit and bail him out, only to be informed she was also wanted for the same offence. Shocked, she admitted being the person named in the warrant but denied involvement. Both were then handed over to investigators for legal proceedings.

The case originated on 6 August 2025, when the victim, Kitsiri, a 25-year-old blind woman, filed a complaint after discovering her safe had been tampered with while she was away on a trip. She told police that she returned home and found her safe could not be opened. When a friend helped inspect it, they discovered that the safe had been cut open with a grinder and resealed with adhesive to conceal the damage.

According to the victim, the safe had originally contained 1.3 million baht in cash and 50 baht-weight of gold in both bars and jewellery. Upon inspection, 200,000 baht in cash and gold weighing 15 baht were missing. She suspected someone inside the household was responsible.

Police investigators, assisted by the Nonthaburi Provincial Forensic Division, examined the scene and collected latent fingerprints from the safe. Security camera footage showed Sureerat, the housemaid and her husband entering the victim’s home during her absence. Forensic analysis confirmed both suspects’ fingerprints were found on the safe. Warrants were subsequently issued, leading to the arrest of Anuchit and later his wife when she appeared at the station.
