A two-and-a-half-year-old boy was injured after being run over by a car near the entrance of Chao Sua Market in Soi Noen Plub Wan, Nong Prue Subdistrict, shortly before midnight on October 18. Rescue officers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation and a hospital emergency unit quickly responded to the scene following reports of the incident.

At the scene, near a noodle shop beside the market, rescuers found the young boy crying in pain after suffering injuries to his torso and legs. He was given immediate first aid before being rushed to Hospital for urgent medical treatment. The child is now under the care of doctors and despite the severity of his injuries, his condition is not deemed life-threatening.

Nearby, officers found a white Mitsubishi Xpander with Bangkok plates parked close to the site. The driver was identified as Mr. Jay, 57 years old. According to eyewitnesses, the boy often played around the area where his mother works as a vendor. They recounted that the car was entering the market at a normal speed when the boy suddenly ran across the road. The vehicle struck the child, causing him to fall and the front wheel ran over his body before the driver was alerted by the shouting of nearby residents and stopped immediately. CCTV footage captured the entire incident clearly.

Mr. Jay told police that he had intended to park his vehicle to buy soy milk from the market, but the front parking lot was full. He then drove to the side area to find another spot when he heard residents shouting and stopped his car right away. Upon stepping out, he realised he had accidentally run over the child. He said he did not see the boy due to the vehicle’s height but noted that he was driving slowly at the time.

Authorities have not reported any charges at this stage, but the investigation will review CCTV footage to determine any further action. The case serves as a warning for both drivers and parents to remain vigilant in public areas, especially around small children.

But, what in the world is a toddler doing running around in the streets close to midnight? Maybe mama should have a bit better control.

Feckless parenting......

What I often argue about!

Pickup drivers often praise their good oversight. BS to me.

I have front and back camera and when entering the yard I can see even the smallest dog.

IMHO front and back cameras should be mandatory for these bulky vehicles..

Just seen the video.

He could have been a bit slower when entering such area.

And check the sorroundings and not only your path.

Cameras wouldn't have helped.

Seeing the toddler from the driver seat with the tinted windows at night is indeed difficult.

Often hear of 'blind spots' as being blamed. In the modern age there should be no such thing, nor should a vehicle being driven blind be allowed on roads.

Mrs was watching a horrific incident on Thai TV last night of an HGV truck, without trailer, mowing over a woman on a motorcycle  at low speed, at a junction causing her  decapitation..... even fuzzed out it was horrific.

Revoke his license and suspend for 1 year.

Hope the kid recovers.
