Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt visited the site of the collapsed section of Samsen Road in front of Vachira Hospital, Dusit District, on 20 October 2025. Authorities have filled the ground with 1,800 cubic metres of crushed compacted stone, making it safe for pedestrians to cross. Monitoring shows the filled soil remains stable and no movement has been detected in surrounding buildings.

The collapse affected the road and prompted the temporary closure of Samsen Police Station (SPL) and nearby areas. Officials drilled holes to check groundwater levels, which currently sit at -13 metres, higher than the underground tunnel depth.

Governor Chadchart explained that steel plates have been laid in front of Samsen Police Station to allow vehicles to access the site to start dismantling operations. The removal of the police station’s building is expected to take four days. Authorities confirmed there are no additional cracks in the nearby flats or shophouses, and constant monitoring continues.

The next critical phase involves restoring the underground metro tunnel, along with main water pipes, drainage systems and then the road surface. Governor Chadchart stressed that safety remains the top priority, which may delay reopening the road. A full investigation into the cause is ongoing to prevent similar incidents in the future.
